I'll discuss Ultra in more detail tomorrow when I have energy, but here are the dj's I heard and some quick comments:

1. Digital Lifestyel: A duo that does a live PA and had a small setup near the entrance; very talented guys and will be in NY sometime next month.

2. Sander Kleinenberg: Fun set...had a problem with the equipment in the beginning but things worked out...got a chance to hear him at the Terrace in Space as well as Club Spin on Thursday...great sets!

3. Carl Cox: UNBELIEVABLE! Best set I heard at Ultra...even suprised everyone and played Reflekt feat. Deline Bass - Need to Be Loved...it was tech house at it's finest!

4. Danny Tenaglia: Should've had a bigger room, but heard the first 1/2 hour and he was playing some driving, upbeat tracks..

5. Danny Howells: Did a good job taking over for Carl Cox..kept it upbeat as well

6. Tiesto: No Comment

7. Paul van Dyk: What can I say, the man is the "Godfather of Ultra" as the MC said..haha! Did a pretty good job at keeping it full of energy...didnt like the fact the he played Nothing But you...but made up for it by playing U2-Streets have No Name (Nu-nrg Remix)

Overall, the highlight of the trip was hearing Matthew Dekay live finally and he lived up to the expectations! More comments later...

my pops picked me up from school last night so i could go home for the day for easter. he bought a new acura tl and its a pretty sweet ride. it comes with xm radio so i was browsin through and i found 2 stations that were broadcastin utlra, i got to hear parts of ferry, carl cox and junkie xl =)

all of them were pretty good, ferry dropped Ferry Corsten ft. Shelly Harland - Holding On (Ferry's Corsten Flashover Mix) and I was so impressed. this song is amazing =) it def made my night to be listening to ultra for a 3 hr road trip, it would have been amazing to have been there but I settled for seein the family for the first time in months.

that vid is pretty sweet =) pvd is king, it looks like there is a bottle of rum + coke being shaken up at the end there too haha

Just got back from FL. What an amazing week!!

Ultra 7 Moby was great, last time I saw him was Edinburgh Castle in 2001, bought back some fond memories. Especially I feel it (which he apparenlty played at the 1992 WMC also).

<<< The next is not a review - its my gripe of the Ultra entrance policy, so please skip if you are looking at DJ reviews >>>>

Ultra is a great event it has to be said - but apparently there was a rule stating no cameras, backpacks, suntan lotion etc.. (not on MY wantickets email though :-( ). I got there early, about 1.30 with 2 friends, we picked up will call and went to the pat down area. I had a camera and the security guard said I could either throw it in the bin or take it home. Im not rich enough to throw away an SD300 with a 1gb card in, so my friends went in and I spent 3 hours getting to the hotel in south beach and back to lock it up (first i tried to get a security box at the inter continental and they couldnt understand me, then I got caught in a huge traffic jam going back to SoBe). I got back to Ultra around 4.30 to find a huge line which moved fairly fast. The sick part of the story is that people who were just arriving were being told the same thing as I was earlier and were litterly ditching backpacks that looked new into the trash along with all sorts of useful stuff, im sure if you opened up the huge pile of trash bags on the side you would find cameras, backpacks and other valuable things. I thought they werent letting in camera's because they wanted exclusive film and photo rights but once inside I came across people selling disposable cameras and expensive water. So the reasoning is vendor protectionism. I understand people who organised this need to make a profit, but frankly I hate profiteering. This is one of the causal factors that kicked off the problems at Woodstock - a monopoly of retailers on a red hot day. The Empire State Building here doesn't urn you back with your own camera or force you to buy their disposable cameras, come to that fact no attractions do - so why Ultra needs to be special??

I believe If the organisers want to keep the rights for the vendors then offer the option to lock stuff up for a couple of bucks next year - everyone wins then.

Here endeth the gripe!

btw did anyone see NU NRG ? Their time slot was 1:30 - 2:15 pm. Too damn early!
Also, Armin and Ferry were on at pretty much the same time, on different stages, a good walk from each other. Luckily, Liquid Todd gave up his time slot so that we could all see a little more of Ferry, before he handed over to Oakie.
