I went and congradulated Nickson on his set and he gave me Cern Go Fly. I was the tall white dude in the black pirate shirt. I saw a lot of you guys. Mainly the tall asian dude and a few other people. Was upfront most of the night and really really enjoyed the evening. |
LOL you're really tall!
thanks for the vinyl shffy! next time, we should plan this meetup stuff alittle more seriously :) |

| I was the idiot who brought his sweatshirt (dark blue, coincidentally also a Sideout piece of clothing) and tied it around his waist. ;) |

Ahh, the one I had my hand on. I let go and let him have it and he thanked me for not fighting over it (I'm not a DJ -- I'm glad someone who could make good use of it ended up with it :) )
I'm with you on the 10/10 score on the night's music. A pleasant surprise by both Sonorous and Nickson. |
It was fun last night, I had a blast. This was my first event ever, and thought it was great. I was the tall white guy in a plaid shirt up front the whole night next to the bald guy, deerek, (phasefour) sometimes. I was happy to grap the vinyl, it was cool, and I got to meet nickson afterwards and grap a pic.
Sonorous set was awsome I thought, kinda varied but still flowed. Nikson set wasn't bad at all either. Both DJs really reacted well with the crowd up front. It was great. :) I can't wait for next time.
It would have been cool to meet you other TAs. I read these forums a lot, but don't always post. |

Alright guys, sorry I'm late with this post. I didn't get home until 2:30 pm Sunday afternoon, since my driver thought it would be cool to do a little price haggling with the Toyota dealership in Dublin. Don't ask.
We got there at the party around 10 pm, both me and my cousin went kandied out cuz that's what we do at raves: do the candy kid thing. We must have been the last of a dying breed cuz to our dismay, we were like the only ones sporting it at the time. Nothing but thuggish looking Asians and clubheads in sight, for the time being. I went up to the trance room to see if I could spot any TA's, but since I didn't know how any of you guys looked like (I couldn't check the TA thread that Sat morning cuz my friends had already come to pick me up), I just sat back and hoped someone would recognize me. After all I did try to make myself easy to spot with the yellow shirt and candy and all, guess it did kinda work, lol. Well I just chilled for the next couple of hours, waiting for the party to pick up, get more packed, watch the e-tards slowly appear, etc. Watched the last half of Tom Slik's set. Man, that guy got the party goin' cuz that's when things started picking up. Plus Tom's tracks were incredible to me. Couldn't ID anything. At midnight I started seeing a few more candied people emerge from their hiding places, that made me more comfortable, and more people were getting light shows and such. Now the party was starting to get interesting. I admit, I dropped at midnight, not because I needed too but more like, "Aw what the Hell?" sort of thing. Went downstairs and chilled on the couch for a little bit, and waited til I started coming up. Down there I must have talked to a bunch of peeps. Witnessed two fat guys make out with each other (Ugh) and helped this other dude having a bad trip calm down.
I went back upstairs around 1 a.m. but had to wait cuz the security were limiting the amount of people going up. Looks like the trance room was getting so packed that now only a few people could go up at a time. (Signs of a sick party, yeah!) When I went back up I got to listen to the last half of Sonorous' set. Can't remember what he played, but it got me dancing for the first time that night. But I remember going nuts when Robert Nickson finally came on. I mean damn! The guy started off playing Andy Moor-Halcyon. I've been enjoying that tune since it first premiered on ASOT, and so hearing it in that wicked sound system, I just peaked. Everything was set: the headliner was spinning, the crowd was going wild, the lasers looked incredible, the vibe was ing there. And somewhere during the middle of his set, a guy tapped me on my shoulder and asked if I was Zharen. I said, "Yeah, who are you?" And he said he was Sheffy from TA. That just made the night even better. I mean I was already enjoying myself, with or without the E, my friends were also enjoying the music, and now I was raving with a fellow TA member. That was awesome. Well actually, apparently we were all raving together that night, and nobody even ing knew. LOL. Guess we all really should plan these meet ups better. I mean seriously, the guy shooting the video was less than 10 feet away from me. Good grief! Sick video though. Thanks for sharing it!
And big ups to Sheffy who reminded me once Robert Nickson spun his remix of Kallocain. I think I was already so enthralled and so "elevated" with his set and working up a sweat after he played M.I.K.E.-Massive Motion, that I just didn't care what he was playing anymore. I was already lost to the vibe. But once Kallocain was playing, the night was just magical, just freakin' magical. Been waiting all night to hear that tune, and Robert finally spun it. AND YOU GUYS CAUGHT IT ON VIDEO! :D Everybody was jumping and shouting and throwing their hands in the air it was crazy. And Robert doing his little spirit fingers stuff. lol. I even remember saying wazup to Sonorous and then giving the guy a hug. And then this girl who was next to him got touched by it and gave the both of us a hug. How PLUR Is that? Even got to thank Robert for coming out to the Bay Area. Cool guy, signing autographs and giving away free vinyls like that. Reminds me of Armin. That guy will go far.
Great night to be had. I must have given away half of my kandy necklaces and bracelets to other peeps in exchange for hugs, gave a couple of people light shows with my light chaser, and met even more people before the night was over. Really wished I had brought my digital camera to this, it was the only thing I forgot to bring with me. Anyways guys, maybe we can have a more successful meet-up next time. If any of you plan to go to LOVE next month, let me know. Now that I have a better idea of what you guys look like now. And to anyone who didn't attend this party just cuz they don't like the SKILLS crowd, YOU MISSED OUT!
And thank you so much for the awesome party SKILLS! PLUR LIVES ON! :D |

Sorry for the late review... Anyways
The Party was off the chain! The sound the venue everything was top notch. I really liked the Blue Cube and I knew it would be sweet, after hearing about all the party's happening and the positive comments. I really digged the futuristic yet old look of the blue cube, it worked well. I really didn't meet any TA's except when Zharen introduced me to Sheffy for a quick sec, I would have liked to meet other ta's but I didn't know what u guys looked like.
As for the sets I really liked Sonorous's set, it was very diverse and flowed well, only catched just a bit of nickson's set as I was down stairs catchin another dj, but from what I heard it was quite nice. The vibe was preety good both upstairs and downstairs, overall I think it was best when Mars was spinning, the ppl were just goin nuts. :)
My only complaint was the crowd, it didn't really seem like a skills crowd but more clubby and a bit thuggish type that weren't really there for the music, we needed more ravers basically...
But overall a great party from skills, definetly the best Ive been too this year and I can't wait for the next skills party "Love", its gonna be a whole lot better.:eyes:
Oh and my score for the party 9/10 :) |
