A serious question re: Sander Kleinenberg & Junkie XL

Right. Amongst the chaos with the title change to this forum, I've decided to bring things back on track with a serious topic.

I liked Junkie XL's performance at ULTRA, but someone commented to me that it's actually considered Progressive House.

My question to the Sander whores is: does that mean they play identical styles? I've never seen Sander and am looking for serious feedback for my knowledge.

*EDIT* No, this isn't an April Fool's thread or a reason to genre bash, I'm looking for info and feedback. There's enough April Fool's threads in COR.

*EDIT 2* SERIOUS RESPONSES ONLY, PLEASE. (That means YOU, Greg.) :whip: :wtf:

sander is considered to be "progressive house" - but i think that label spans a lot of different styles. sander definitely spins house, tech-house, tech and then some tracks that have trance elements - and at wmc he was spinning some really funky tunes - he has developed a "funky - chunky" style - check out everybody too cd - it will show you his style and diversity of his sets.

I've also heard he plays remixed 80's tunes...that's actually considered house?

heres some news for you da.... and i think weve been trying to clue you into this for a while... the genres of edm are not SET... the boundaries are very fuzzy so even if joe schmo labels something progressive house is may not be progressive house to someone else... my best advice would be to never say that you HATE something until you give it a chance....
so if your curious about a certain djs sound, check out one of his sets rather than trying to find out which label his style has been pinned as.

What can I say? I'm stubborn. :o I won't deny that.

I might give a download a try.

Junkie does edm with a rock feel. He spans anywhere from prog house to electro to hip hop. Sander on the other hand is progressive period. The term progressive ranges anywhere from house, trance, techno, electro etc etc etc...if you've noticed Sanders set's are really rock and electro influenced.

ps trance was so 2000 ;)

jk :D

Same Genre yes. Different styles definately. Junkie is the . Sander K is the aswell. I've noticed his style has changed a bit as ctprincess said, into a more funkier juicier (and I forgot the lyrics too the song now, anyways) style.

OMG Sander at Ultra who heard that DnB track that (once again I forgot the name to it even though I love the song) he played at 33, slowed the down, and omg it was like omg I cant even describe u had to have been there for that. It was definately worth missing him on the 19th up here in the A.

Great responses...

I'm anxiously awaiting Nachos, RzO and Kelly's input.

Keep 'em comin'.
