All of my tracks are fully mastered/mixed on Sony MDR-7506 headphones.
$100 USD - can't go wrong. |

No, those are definitly not the same as the MDR-7506s. What you have are DJ headphones, what i have are producer headphones. |

They're actually WAY too bass heavy, so I bounce back and forth between these and my AKG K240's. If I can get a mix to sound good in BOTH of these headphones and then my monitors (Alesis Active M1's), then I know my mix should be fairly good. |

the MDR-V700 are not good at all for that...the sound it's too dynamic and the bass too heavy, like DjMaytag said.i coudnt eq a track using those headphones cause all the time it sounds totally different in my monitors.for dj'ing i think they are the best you can find on the market... |

I mix with my 700s just fine. Yeah, they are bass and midrange heavy, so you have to be aware of that and mix your tracks accordingly. I find the balance between those and my crappy computer speakers provides good results for the clubs.
I will admit that almost all of my earlier tracks were flat sounding though because I took the sound of the 700s too literally. As long as you're aware of colouring added to your tracks by them, you'll be fine. |

using the same system to mix, as the one u are listening to other music on will do fine, really.. im buying Alesis M1 active anyways:p |

If you know where all of the flaws are, ( can try to give you a list of stuff :P), the HDJ1000's work pretty well.
Right now I'm actually using some nice computer speakers with an EQ on them, and these mixes are actually pretty good too. (when I'm just sort of making a track... I don't like wearing headphones for too long). |

yeah, i prefer good monitor speakers too.
But I havenīt the money for good speakers "and", thatīs very important -> i havenīt the money for a good studioroom, without roomresonances.
To make a good sounding(without roomresonances) room is realy difficult.
Therefore I search for very good mixing headphones, they canīt replace good monitor speakers, but there are a little help.
Iīve heard good about the AKG270, Sennheiser HD600 and Sony MDR7509.
