just me going through random presets no programing done..

well i didnt realise they offered v synth 2 as a software upgrade to the first v synth. the v synth xt still costs 1600 quid and still isnt out yet. i stand corrected either way.

And i have two vintage analog boards a roland jupiter 6 and a oberheim xpander. Niether of which have problems with the osc drifting when im working with the.

thats because the jupiter 6 is an analogue synth with digitally controlled oscillators. the juno 106 is like this too. analogue with DCOs. they stop the pitch from wandering. old analog monos without this will wander in pitch after a while. tbs do this the longer you keep them running.

I've decided to buy the JP8000. I got it for 5300 NOK , that's about 800$. It's used, but it's been in a studio all the time. The guy had two, so he haven't used this. Only used it through MIDI.

I'm really glad that all of you guys posted all those replies! Gave me the opinions I needed. :happy2:
I'm soooo looking forward to tweak some killer sounds!

I've got two synths now! :eyes: One Korg KARMA and one JP8000! Man, that rox! Korg KARMA's sweeeet pads and piano combined with the razorsharp supersaw on the JP8000 is gonna make a killer duo!
Now that I'm a member of the JP8000 club, are there any communities I can join? I'm getting the Venegence presets.

its for the 8080, but most of the conversations can cover the 8000, i do not know of any 8000 groups.

BTW the jupiter 6 is not a dco based synth... Yes it has a autotune but it has CEM VCO's... Very much fully analog.... Same goes for the xpander CEM vco's Both synths do have software envelopes though...

well you are right. but DCO analog synths are fully analog too. some people say they arent as warm but hey. fat enough for my liking and you dont have to wait for them to warm up to stable tuning like sh-101s.

I think the 101 is discrete. The xpander starts right up as does the jupe6 but i think they 8 takes a bit of time because of the discrete chips.. My friends 101 goes out of tune a lot.. But not enough for him to want to get something else. its a sick little bass synth...

i actually hated the sound of it. i hated the unstable oscillator. i hated the fact it had no midi. oh dont get me wrong - it punches out bass like MAD. and the filter is phat. but it sounds...weird. immensely fat but weird. not whiney exactly. you know that acid sound on the 303? it kind of squelches? well its sort of like that with the 101 only the squelch sound sucks and that sort of whiney kind of feel just rubs off on any patch you use with the filter resonance. i just think i wasnt looking for those sounds when i tried it out. the keyboard isnt bad though.

and you can tell the difference between a VA and a true analog mono/poly. and its not that hard to spot the difference either if you know what to look for. my virus b filter sounds amazing but it doesnt sound like an analog filter. not at all. same with the JP. the virus pure saw wave is kind of weak. it doesnt have that upper mid range crunch and i think it sounds until you pile a tonne of effects on it and unison it up a bit. the jp saw is more crunchy. but both are dwarfed by a juno 106 saw.

but all this talk of analog, the jp still sounds amazing and i still want one. and i still maintain that spending 1500 quid on a v-synth JUST for the jp engine and not the sample mangling capabilities of the synth is a massive waste of money. with 1500 quid id rather have a jp8080, juno 60, JX 10 and the extra pocket money. v-synth only ever sounds as good as what you put into it and most people here dont have amazing sampling/recording equipment.

I want to get a 101 someday.. Josh wink uses it all over his tunes as does prodigy... But yeah i agree it all sounds weak compared to a real analog... Here a little bass clip from the xpander.. No effects or eq were used...

Eventhough the envelopes are very slow it is still pretty thick...

Actually I don't find this examples very convincing. Perhaps you could
recreate the Cygnus X- Superstring (Rank1 Remix) sound.

This would be an ideal demo to show the Vsynth supersaw and Jp80XX
features :gsmile:

PM if you need the midifile for SUPERSTRING

Ok. I thought you were really a fan of the vsynth, since you claimed it was that good, made that mp3 demo and presented it as a better (and more expensive) alternative to the JP80XX.
