its the only thing i do though besides bicycle sit ups, so i guess thats why its kinda high (if 70 is high at all...) cuz it makes up for not working out the real way. |
ditto .. i went through the same stretch as you .. every morning, i promised myself i would do pushups .. well it wasnt everyday, but more like 5 to 6 days a week, with one break inbetween the stretch .. for instance, i would do 3 days, then break one day, then do another 3 or 4 days, then break ..
i was up to 100 .. that felt pretty good .. then i quit doing them .. kinda back on track with the schedule, as long as school doesnt piss me off or drain my energy, i would be cool .. hahah .. currently up to about 70 or 75 .. around there ..

what are they good for anyways, what muscles do they target. |
hell yeah it works .. i hear it's the fastest way to get those "rip" biceps and shoulders, and you see the muscle alignment on your arms .. you don't want flabby arms, do you ??? .. :nervous: |

they target the chest, and the closer your grip the more the emphasis switches from chest to tricep.
dont do anything for your bicep. |

Last time I tried (flu rightnow not gonna do it :p) was somewhere around 35.
Last time we did like...a real competition we did pyramid battle. We started with pullups.
a person grabs the bar and does 1. then next person does one. first person goes again and does 2. then 3. get to 10 and work back down the pyramid.
then we did pushups.
ended up being 70 pullups and 190 pushups. was a lot of fun :) |

Oh, and to the person that said the wider the easier - that is only true to an extent, you are targetting different areas of different muscles with your hands close or far apart. It may be easier for you to go wide however other people may find it easier to hold their hands an inch or so apart.. |

| lol to whoever said they are boring.. i can do all of mine (70) in 1-2 minutes. if 1-2 minutes bores you, then i think you have the worst attention span ever. its fun to see how rapid you can get up and down. i dunno... to each his own i guess. |

As fun as the speed run might be, it's not as effective as taking your time (towards your muscles, that is). |

generally i would expect the chest to be larger the triceps :p
yes some people have huge arms and no chest thats a fact.. in this case close stance may be easier :p but i would sincerley doubt it since even then you have to go all the way down with your bend on your elbow as opposed to slightly less than 90 degrees
its simple mechanics :p |
