Out of curiousity, how many Columbine-style massacres took place back then?

That is because he lives in Canada...besides our own gun registry/laws are nothing to be proud of. It's a bigger joke/waist of money than the sponsorship scandal. In the sates you can legally carry a weapon anywhere I tink with the approproate license.

Time to learn your gun laws son. Our gun laws are rather strict and actually are something to be proud of.

While it is reasonably easy to become licenced to own a long gun (rifle or shotgun) in Canada it is very difficult to be licenced to own a hand gun or other restricted/prohibited weapon. If you are able to own a hand gun you must apply for a permit to store that hand gun in any location other then the police station. If you wish to move that gun from the police station or the permited storage location you must get a permit to have the gun at the location at which you intend to use the weapon (you can only use it at a range). Prior to moving the weapon from the police station or permited storage location to the permitted usage location you must advise the police of your intention, your planned route, the time you will leave, the time you will arrive, and you must transport the weapon in a locked container (or employing the use of a trigger or breach lock) without making any stops along your route. Any violation of these conditions can result in an immediate suspension of your restricted or prohibited arms license (whichever you have). This is just a scratching of the surface of our gun laws.... believe me it is a very tight system... I sold my handguns because it became too much of a pain in the ass to go shooting with them.

I think what you're talking about is the long gun registry, which I agree is a joke.

"Under what its Republican sponsor calls the Stand Your Ground bill, gun licence holders over 21 years of age who feel threatened in public can shoot to protect themselves, without trying to escape first."

This sounds like open season on the lower class and visible minorities to me.
-"why did you shoot this man sir?
-"well, he's Cuban and looks poor... I figured he was going to mug me, I felt threatened so I shot him to protect myself."
-"very good sir, you can move along now."

Had security guards or bystanders been armed at Ecole Polytechnique Montreal, Columbine, or Red Lake High School, dozens of people would still be alive.

Along with thousands of others killed instead. Good plan champ.

AH OK! Point taken...

But that law you described above is silly too...STRICT no doubt but silly. What's the point of having a gun then? (Not that I think that citizens should have guns) And imagine being arrested if you took a detour and your gun was with you, cause you had a "concealed weapon".

In the states they have a lot more voilent crimes though, so what this bill sounds like is a fancy self-defence law. While I don't have a problem with. But what I DO have a problem with (and what some of you mentioned in a very funny way :p) how the hell are you going to decide when you're threatened, and who will decide that for you in court?

ROFL, I didn't know whether I was seeing things reading this crap in the paper this morning :haha:
Can anyone say that they're really surprised? I can definitely see the homicide rate at a VERY steep incline for the next little while. You gotta wonder, WTF these psychos are thinking. So much for visiting Florida this summer.
