my thoughts exactly. but hey, i can post all sorts of different hues. thats the easiest things to change once the main parts are done. maybe i should bring one of the labels out more, like either progressive, house/breaks, or ta trance alliance in a more prominent color... |

I've always gotten the impression that anthem trance doesn't have to be uplifting per se, but there is a large melodic part at some point. With that mentality, one can see how I could imagine goa or somesuch with an anthem as long as it wasn't quite so uplifting. Even Mahadeva has that memorable staccato line.
That said, the stuff I've made that confuses me certainly has anthems, but it all has this bizzare "otherness," as opposed to "upliftingness," that I can't really place. I just know that the spot that that otherness lands in will be anthem or dark trance.
But yeh, I agree that genre classification can get a little pointless at times, especially when it's really all about enjoying the music. :toocool:

Yeah, I see what you mean. I wouldn't really all astral projection 'Dark' though. Mahadeva is definately melodic with a huge buildup but I've never really though of any goa tracks as anthems before. Actually I seem to see anthemic trance as something that has huge popularity more than anything else. I would call Cloudwalking or Tiestos mix of Silence fairly anthemic. A lot of rave style trance seems to smack of that anthem feeling too. Yeah, its a tricky one, thats for sure.

Well, the three that come to mind most easily are Xanadu, Sheet of White and The Starlight was Overwhelming, and I've posted all three already. I'll PM you the links if you'd like. |
