REVIEW: Cosmic Gate @ Viva

wow, what an amazing night.
i came around 2am and there was a lineup at the door, and since i was cheap and left my coat in the car, i was freezing. no worries, waited for about 20-25 min till we got in and cosmic gate was pumping it. while we were waiting outside, i heard them play jonas steur - castamara which was awesome. they kept mixing up harder stuff with trance which was great to dance to. another track i remmeber was Cosmic Gate Feat. Jan Johnson - I Feel Wonderful which just killed the place. wat an aweosme tune. and then at 4.30 they played exploration of space. OMFG i went nuts :eyespop: hearing the tune that was one of the first trance track ive ever heard was just remarkable. they kept goin until 5am but i didnt really like the last 20 min of the set. i think they shouldve just ended it off with exploration of space.
then mark oliver came on and played a sweet first tune. i cant remember the name though. the first hour was all trance. randy katana, Enmass - Beyond Horizon (i think), Reflekt - Need To Be Loved (or did cosmic gate play that?), and a few more. i left at 6am cuz he was dropping a bit more on the harder side (which i saw jayx1 loving:p ) but my freinds were getting tired.
saw some TAs there as usual. nice meeting dennis hahn and spam for the first time. and good seeing cono_sur and flec there also.
cant wait for the next time cosmic gate come to town. |

WICKED wicked party....My friend Scott & I got there at 10:30 and the place was jammin...BIG thanx for Jayx1 for his help;) ...Glad I was able to go in the DJ booth to say hi...it looked pretty busy & crowded in there:nervous: ....Anyway...I only ran into 1:sadgreen: TA that I knew (Jason)...I wish I saw you Spam but we left around 4:30 'cause we we're getting tired...We did meet some Americans from Detroit namely Andrew...not a TA but whatever...I'm assuming that DJ Key was spinning when we walked in and that guy dropped some awesome trance including some old school stuff :tongue2 ...Seems every DJ that spun made smooth transitions from one set to the next...I LUV that:D
So great nite all around & would see Cosmic Gate next time they come here with no hesitation:) |

Cosmic Gate did a wonderful job! My buddy and I got in there around 1:30 and the place wasnt packed at all. We really tripped out when they dropped some Delerium, Jan Johnston and Thrillseekers. The only buzzkill was the scruf that took place in the middle of the dancefloor at just before 4:30. All I saw was some dude gettin pushed against my buddy, then dropping to the floor, and then like 3 other guys ran at him and started kicking this man's face n . Then like 8 securities rushed in and it was over. That was prolly the most wacked part of the evening. Regardless we still had quite a blast and Mark Oliver was sick too. Cant wait till Ferry next week woohoo!
Anyways, Cosmic Gate threw a disgustingly sick set, the sound and the lightshow were good too. Second time at Viva and will return soon!

Overall, I had a great time.
Got there at 11 and met RobbyG and his buddy Scott outside. I had a ticket reserved with the promotor Mike, but there was nothing there for me when I got there, and he wasn't expected to show for a while, so I had to pay the extra $5 to get in. :mad: That's the last time I ever contact him... :rolleyes:
anyhoo...the music was great. Started off really hard. Heard DJ Misjah's Access. Awesome tune.
Cosmic Gate came on at 2am and tore it up until 5. Love their style. It reminded me of Blank & Jones. :D
Jayx1 - nice job working the lights. I had actually seen you on the floor a couple of times, but at the time I didn't know it was you. Will be sure to say hello next time.
It was nice to see smuncky and Spam. It was also great meeting Dennis Hahn (again :stongue: ), DJ_Klonzy (sp?), and Claus & Stefan. ;)
As for the crowd, well... it hasn't changed much since the last time I was there.
I'd also like to thank Dennis for getting me DJ Bossi's signature on the Cosmic Gate flyer. :D |

k guys, i have something many of you have been waiting for...PICTURES
as DJ Tygon's official photographer for that night (lol) i made sure (as always) i got pics of everybody havin a great time!
The ride there was AWESOME and the party was awesome...lol the ride back...well i fell asleep for part of it so i dunno lol
I was up in the DJ booth for Tygon's VS set with Hartec takin pictures of everything happenin....AWESOME experience, Tim, you did an AMAZING job with that set! and i think its funny how Cosmic Gate dropped Pulser - Square One shortly AFTER you dropped it! hahah

Awesome night!
I left for Viva around 2am since I had to close up shop at Pizza Hut that night and one of my co-workers decided to join me and check out his first 'rave'.
A tiny lineup when I got there around 2:30 but no problem, Cosmic Gate was killin it and I was getting pumped UP.
Got inside and met cono_sur and shmunky, looked around for more TA's but couldn't find any. Met some of my fellow Laser Quest players, and danced up a storm along with the rest of the front-stage krew. Amazing tracks all the way through!
Finally heard a good remix of Skydive, Punk, Benagio for Strings, a few songs I recognize but don't know the names to. MMMMMMMMM Around 5:30 my friend was wasted and I had to get up today anyway so we left.

I was there on Friday.
I remember a girl who was dressed up as a skunk, she had a tail and headgear on lol. Wonder if she posts here. Anyways, cosmic gate was pretty hype, especially when they played a couple of old hits, really went nuts. Like someone mentioned above, the last 20 mins pretty much sucked, or the ending even. I was there from 1-5am.
As for mark oliver, I was never a fan of him really. He always plays at viva. |
