| actually, yea, it's not real- they just said it was i think. it was a mockumentary and they generated so much hype about this dude to make us think it was real. i'm sure we would have heard of him if it was real. |

i also went to see it and definitely enjoyed myself....although I would have liked it to be a bit longer so that it would be a little more convincing....
now onto the controversial part, I would think that he did not exist since no one ever really heard of him....the director however said that he did exist with all seriousness....now if you look around the web you will realize that this was all a big stunt just to make him seem real...wow i must say i was really fooled...they really went to extremes (like making a discogs and internetdj page for him)
So final verdict, HE WAS NOT REAL |
I think you are being a little too sceptical. I personally do not beleive that a movie production team will go to such lengths as to create "a real person" based on the charachter in the movie.
I think it was a great movie that shows what these people endure (I mean of course people that in it BECAUSE they love it NOT BECAUSE THEY GETTING PAID). This is a tremendous work and physical strain on a dj (think about it, most of us spend only about 2-3 hours in a club on average once-twice a week they are doing it EVERY DAY!!!!!!). The movie reflects to the point how one would react if his life came to not even a hault but a COMPLETE SLAMMING STOP (like hitting a concrete wall) when you can't do the only thing you love/can/want to do. The truth is we really dont know what will happen to all those that make our weekends seem like lifetimes with the beautiful soundtrack in the future. I hope that NONE of them will experience what Frankie did in the movie.
On the movie itself I thought it was a breath of fresh air from all the hollywood crap we have been fed. It was well produced, the acting was top notch, the scenery...well its IBIZA...whoever been there knows, who hasnt been there needs to go, the comedy was hillarious and story was touching. Highly recommend to go see for any1, doesnt matter if you are into dance music or not. It's is more of a story of a struggle, just happens to have the element of nightclubbing in it.
PS Thanks to ALL the djs out there, this movie actually made me appreciate this stuff even more. |

the beginning of Return of The Living Dead said that it was based on a true story as well...theyre saying that about the Amityville Horror as well...people could say that and get away with it....it doesnt neccessarily have to be true guys...
anyway, im kicking myself that i totally forgot about the screening, even though i confirmed for it...... |

IT'S ALL GONE PETE TONG is an award winning mockumentary -- a fictionalized and comedic "biopic" based on legendary DJ Frankie Wilde. It is a hilarious, wild and original look at an extraordinary life.
Having found success with the mockumentary genre with 2002’s indie cult darling FUBAR, a fictionalized portrait of two aging headbangers, acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Michael Dowse shifts his comedic focus with IT'S ALL GONE PETE TONG to the superstar DJ lifestyle and club culture, in general.

btw, i dunno about others, but I came about half hour before the movie like i was told to do so. It didn't matter if you RSVP, because everyone had to wait in line. Around 7:10 people just started rushing the guy with the list/tickets and he just started giving them out to anyone. So I was lucky to get one ticket because I ran up to him, otherwise I wouldn't get in. |

luckily my friend blitz got off work at 5:30pm and she was like the third one on the line...the line must have gotten much longer after we walked in
anyway, mockumentary or not, it was def a great film with really great acting...so many funny moments...damns that picture of the couple with the kid really made me crack up bigtime LOL
The Q&A was cool with the director and the leading actor ...it was really funny when they mentioned the afterparty, and then someone yelled, "But where's the REAL afterparty?" :haha: :haha: :haha:
hmm..did anyone end up going to Beauty Bar for the afterparty? |

TAKE A DEEP BREATH...AND LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF THE RAINFOREST RELAXING EVERY STRESSFULL BONE IN YOUR BODY...
This is my 1st time run-in with Michael Dowse so I am sorry for not knowing what he is all about. When I came back home I actually tried to find something by "Frankie Wilde" and wasnt able to so that alone supports the notion that he did not exist. However there are some "deaf dj's" (literally) out there so the idea is not a complete fiction. Just surf the net. |

Thank you Daniel I was about to go and find the old news clippings. BTW Exorcist is ALSO BASED ON THE TRUE STORY before we will start bringing up all "questionnable" cinematography done throughout the years.
PS NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET IS FAKE THOUGH :eyespop: |
