I briefly caught a news flash about an innocent baby who died of dehyradtion because her "mom" (if you can call her that) selfishly decided that she wanted to party for 36 hours straight, and thought it would be okay to leave her child home alone, who I think was only about 1 or 2 years old. WHAT THE F*CK? I almost threw up when I heard this. If anyone elese has more info on this disturbing news, can you fill me in, cuz I didn't get a chance to actually watch the news, just caught the news flash.

this is definitely a sad story.

once you have a kid you can't think of your own needs, just the kids.

btw, i really like your screen name. i don't know why, because i'm not really fond of tiesto.

Sickening.

i'm reading up on crime and deviance for an exam specifically on serial killers -- reading this headline isn't shocking or surprsing, which is the saddest thing of all.

Sad. Reminds me of a scene in Trainspotting.

The woman who left her two-year-old daughter home alone to die of dehydration while she went salsa dancing was sentenced to three years in jail Monday.

The Crown had asked that Clara DaSilva, 25, serve eight years behind bars for her role in daughter Adrianna’s death. DaSilva pled guilty to manslaughter last month after the tot was left alone in a hot apartment all weekend in September 2002 so she could go salsa dancing.

The child died of dehydration in an apartment where the temperature had soared to 33C – a drained-to-the-last-drop bottle was found near her crib, where she was found dead more than 30 hours after her mother left her.

DaSilva had said that she left Adrianna with a babysitter and that there was enough food for the two of them, but her story was found to be false.

Further evidence of Adrianna’s mistreatment included diaper rash so severe it could be compared to second-degree burns, and she hadn’t been to a doctor in more than seven months.

DaSilva's laywers had asked for a maximum 18-month sentence. The Crown wanted 8-12 years. The maximum is 25.

The father of the deceased baby wanted to see her punished to the full extent of the law, and is urging the Crown to appeal.

"It's something that I can't let her get away with," Mark Yetman said outside the courthouse.

The government is considering its next steps. "The matter is still before the courts as we are looking at whether an appeal should take place or not," confirms Crown Attorney David Wright. "So we'll just have to wait and see."

Yet another sign of social degeneration.

Humanity, when will you ever live up to your responsibilities?

DJ_Elyot
Simple solution. Don't have children. The less kids you have, the less screwed the Earth is.
