As you probably know those two are pretty much hyped names with many techno lovers as well. Over here, that hype is even already starting to fade away again, especially concerning Voorn.
That does not imply he's not talented though, and I think there are many people on this site that still need to discover him. They would be pleasantly surprised.
As for Preach, I don't really care for his music.
I can't really decide who I would mention, first name I'm thinking of at the moment is Oliver Ho, but he's made some piss poor tunes as well as stunning tracks, so he's more of a hit and miss than a real talent imo.
To you personally Ian, check the B2 of his Sculpture EP (sample) and tell me what you think of it :) |
I'm a big fan of preach, he plays stuff that suits my moods, his productions are quite good too, esp frontiere, illusiones & return to the source.
Voorn, well he has a lot of talent, there is no denying that, technically I think he's excellent, and his remix for secret cinema (which I hope comes out soon as i cant find it yet) is superb imo.
Then again, there's not as many technofans here, so the names may go over their head, tho i tried to pick 2 that were at least in with a chance of being known here.
as for that sample - sounds ok, not amazingly mindblowing, but this is with small speakers here, I can imagine it being much more destructive on a suitable system :D |

Good point.

To each his own, it's got a pretty good chance of ending up in my 2005 top ten if I enjoy the full track as much as this sample. |

How the have we gone 8 pages without a single one of you ignorant prats mentioning Leftfield or Orbital?
Choices mentioned I agree with:
FSOL
Oliver Lieb
BT
Aphex Twin
In addition, you could add Liam Howlett, despite his over-use of samples, he plays guitars and live drums as well as all manner of synths and kit.
Oh, and sorry for the rant up there ^, but to see people listing Rank 1 and Markus Schulz shows how oblivious most of this forum is. |

Personally, I think those two have proven to be some of the most uninspiring techno producers as of late.
But to each his own :) |
Having only heard their earlier works, their music has yet to disappoint me:p
About Voorn - I don't feel he has enough of a discography to really be judged as the others on my list have. |
