My roommate is in need of a job, so i'm putting the word out here, to see if u guys have heard of anything available. *She's already scouring Workopolis, Monster & HRDC's sites, so no need to refer us in that direction- looking for open positions that u personally know of.
she has 7 years experience in these subjects:
-Desktop publishing
-MS Office expert
-web design
-sales & marketing
-administration
also does visual projections on the side.
She lives downtown (w/me) and is dependent on bike or TTC, so a far-away job may not be good.
Thanks for keeping an eye out! |

That would be awesome- u can even send them to her directly to her email. Just put 'job opening' or something in the subject line so she knows.
her name is Petra & her email is [email protected] .
Thanks so much! |

tell your friend to stop wasting her time with monster, workopolis, etc.
HRDC is different.. she needs to look for sites that have some type of government funding and mandate.
My suggestion - get her to take the Job Finding Club course through HRDC & Humber - best job-related course I have ever taken. I did not know how to best search for and apply for jobs & how to take interviews until I took this course. It will teach her networking, cold calls, interview/resume tactics, etc. |

that's not entirely true, I applied out of the blue for a job at CIBC, (I didn't know anybody) low and behold I got it. There's still that chance people!! :p |

Nice.. we work less than a block apart from each other :p (I'm in the Adelaide/Richmond Complex).
Nat: I'll keep my eye open for anything in my area, but the only openings tend to be for secretarial positions (which requires skills in transcribing and such, which are easy to learn for anyone who is familiar with computers but might not be the ideal job for someone as broadly-experienced as your friend...) |
