| Just for the record, on my local news, they did this story, but afterwards they added that where the pope was living it was a REQUIREMENT that all boys join the hitler youth, and when he became old enough to join the military, he fled from it. |

I do see it as a missed opertunity though, a non white pope would have brought the world forward. |
x2... or any non-European pope, for that matter. |

agreed, and i am aware of that. but becoming a pope requires adherence to strict guidelines and certain criteria to be met with regards to background. there were many other worthy candidates |
No, everyone was in it.
What part of "compulsary" don't you understand? |

The Catholic Church is a business. That's my whole problem with Catholicism. It's not about God, it's about money and power. People don't go to Church because they want to, they go because they feel obligated or for tradition. Over the past many centuries the Catholic Church has performed many abominations, casting a poor light on Christianity as a whole. I believe there are many Catholics that are good Christians, but the overall message is corrupted by the Church. Indulgences, the Crusades, etc, etc...
In Matthew, Jesus states that you cannot serve both money and God. I'm not trying to judge, by any means, but it seems like the Catholic Church is trying to straddle the fence on this one. The pope is a man, just like any other. Why is he so revered? Where does the bible say there should be a pope, or that one man should be considered higher than any others? Many of the policies of the Vatican aren't backed one iota by the Bible. I just don't get it. :conf: |
Then why does the Church currently face a cash flow problem?
Other than the Sistine CHapel and other works of precious art, what assets does the Church own? |

Just as a curiosity, how, exactly, would a colored pope be more fit to lead the church than a white one? |

i think they're referring to the idea of a non-european pope. someone in that position of power that, for example, was black...very future forward |

I still don't see how one's color directly effects such things. I can understand a difference in leadership policies due to regional influence, but race really shouldn't come into play here; or anywhere, for that matter. |
