The thing is with the catholic church they will never agree on certain issues like gay marriages and the whole aids thing.
Because you cant have a so called leader of a religion who is for gays getting married ect because it will contradict what the bible is supposed to teach us (even though the bible is full of contradictions)
The bible apparently states that being gay is wrong, ive never found it in there, but then again i dont read it. But im aware that contraception is a big no no thats why they dont want people in africa using condoms, but instead sit back and let them die of aids, when there is a bandaid solution to the problem. |
the homo thing comes from a line stating \"man shall not lie with man, nor woman with woman\" and the contraception thing is related to \"man shall not spill his seed upon the earth\" (i think). whats bollocks is that the church is selective in its belief structures. theres nothing in the 10 commandments about homosexuality. and they were meant to be the laws of god (i believe later changed to only 2 commands, love thy neighbour and love thy god).
theres also nothing in the scriptures that is against the ordination of women. i believe this stems from the fact that jesus' apostles were all fellas. what a load of bollocks. they choose what they want to adhere to based upon their already conservative viewpoints.
i reckon consistency is really important with any belief system.
anyone that believes an all loving and forgiving god would want some of the bull most religions display today, is a congenital idiot imo. |

I agree with Paulie completely. There is a god, he/she/it is almighty but religions themselves are a complete load of imo.
Not to knock catholicism but those of you who are catholic should read ur bible, it even condems the very concept of a pope at all stating that no man is closer to god then any other, no man shall know gods will and states that you are not supposed to call anyone "father" except god himself and there is a list of it that just goes forever.
As i said, i dont follow any of it now but if the catholic church wants to continue to rule out things like contraception etc becuase the bible says so, i think they should follow everything it says which atm they don't.
No offence meant to anyone btw, each to their own. :) |

the opus dei do.
of course, every written word is open to interpretation and the meanings change with the times. from one extreme to another.
something written x-hundred years ago, in a different context, won't apply today. it's funny how people try to insist that it does. |

That's exactly my point, the catholic faith says this all the time. They decide which points of the bible are open to interpretation and which points change with the times and which to be taken in what context and then they decide which ones don't at their whim.
Take contraception for example, we did not have aids etc in the day of the bible and yet the church decides it is wrong today and millions die and suffer because of it. |
