Pj Harvey - "working for the man" is THE groove. Nothing better than the dirty dirty bass and lyric of prostitution.

yeah !!! its definately an original. I could say it's my fave musical I've ever seen. I LOVE the song that she sings in the factory. It starts minimal with only the rhythms of the metal and machines, then progresses with those rhythms. *Looking on Amazon right now! *
Since we're talking bitCh rock.. Patti Smith's "Radio Ethiopia" and "Pissing in a River" will make your blood boil:eyes:
Oh Floorfiller, if you like Bjork.. you probably know of Mum. Their from Iceland as well. Very beautiful compositions and vocals. |

hahaha! shhhhhhhh, i think you said that too loud. its ok.. i cried too. It's the only humane thing to do.
You will like Mum.. i know you will !!! I don't know the main vocalists name. hmmm. ohhh go to Amazon. Search Mum and click the album "Finally We Are No One." Listen to "Now there's that fear again." It displays her fragile voice. "Green grass of tunnel" is bliss but Amazon doesn't correctly display that. Wow.. all this beautiful music from Iceland: Bjork, Mum, Sigur Ros.
Is Boys for Pele a good album? |

ok cool...i'll have to go give it a listen ;)
boys for pele is probably for me the weakest of tori's albums. its got something like 18 songs on it, and there are a couple amazing peices, but the second half of the album is pretty forgettable. the first half is very strong though...
man i was looking for this the other day too...i can't find my cd of it hehehe.
did you get her new album...the beekeeper? |

No. To be honest, I've only heard but a handful of Tori's songs, Siren being by far my favorite of those.
Give me an album to start out with. Might as well as I'm CD shopping on Amazon, spending what I dont have :p If i don't like it, I can always use it as an ice scraper for my windshield :wtf:
I'm sure you'll get Beekeeper farrrr sooner than I. Give me the offical Floorfiller review after you listen ! |

Emiliana Torrini (a former member of Gus Gus) is by far and away the best musical act out of Iceland. She's very similar to Bjork (but better imo).
Her album "Love in the Time of Science" is simply superb. |

She also did the theme for Gollum's song for LOTR 2, and also a track on Oakie's Bunkka I think. |

well hehehe...i've actually already had the beekeeper for a couple of months now hehehe :nervous: :p
its a little bit different from her earlier albums because it has a lot of supporting vocals in it, and at first i didn't really like them, but it really grew on me and i really like the album these days. a lot of the songs on it are fantastic...also her piano playing isn't really the heart of most of the songs on it and it fits more into a support role. a couple of tunes on it you should definitely check out though are...
Sleeps With Butterflies
General Joy
Jamaica Inn
Ribbons Undone
Cars And Guitars
Sweet The Sting
Hoochie Woman
as far as an album to start with...hmmm...i'd probably go either...
Little Earthquakes
or
From The Chiorgirl Hotel
litte earthquakes is her first of course and it has a lot of soft piano tunes in Tori's classic style. there are a lot of great songs on it...actually i don't think there is one i don't like hehehe...
as for From The Chiorgirl Hotel...its more upbeat and probably for that reason a little stronger. all the tunes are great on it. if you like Tori's more upbeat approach than i'd definitely suggest this one. also a lot of heavy piano of course, but this one uses more prominent instrument accompaniments in it than her earlier albums... |
