its a little bit different from her earlier albums because it has a lot of supporting vocals in it, and at first i didn't really like them, but it really grew on me and i really like the album these days. a lot of the songs on it are fantastic...also her piano playing isn't really the heart of most of the songs on it and it fits more into a support role. a couple of tunes on it you should definitely check out though are...

Sleeps With Butterflies
General Joy
Jamaica Inn
Ribbons Undone
Cars And Guitars
Sweet The Sting
Hoochie Woman

as far as an album to start with...hmmm...i'd probably go either...

Little Earthquakes

or

From The Chiorgirl Hotel

litte earthquakes is her first of course and it has a lot of soft piano tunes in Tori's classic style. there are a lot of great songs on it...actually i don't think there is one i don't like hehehe...

as for From The Chiorgirl Hotel...its more upbeat and probably for that reason a little stronger. all the tunes are great on it. if you like Tori's more upbeat approach than i'd definitely suggest this one. also a lot of heavy piano of course, but this one uses more prominent instrument accompaniments in it than her earlier albums...

Alrighty, sir. I'm on Choir Girl Hotel right now ! If you like IDM, Four Tet's latest album "Rounds" contains Tori Amos piano chords of "Winter" on the song "Unspoken." It's very, very moving.. especially toward the end.. all the screeching, similar to lift off, like your flying

Is Tori an angry cynicist?

Her album "Love in the Time of Science" is simply superb.

yeah !!! "Let Go" :wtf: cos there's beauty in the breakdown. I have heard the whole album and wasn't as impressed with any besides this song. I'm a sucka. Then, I hear it on Garden State and it makes the movie all the more powerful. Very very purty :gsmile: You are a beautiful man Floorfiller.

Do you like trip hop? If so, there is a group called Halou consisting of a husband and his wife. Very very georgous on the ears. Dark, deep, haunting vocal. Very slow, warm and synthy.

i sense that we have many teenagers replying to this thread, since most of the songs listed are from the late 90's on ..

imo, green day - bobd is not the best song in the 'american idiot' album, therefore should not be listed as a great song anyways .. just my opinion ..

but i guess i will post another sub top 5 below my top 5 ..

1- christina aguilera - the voice within
2- guns n roses - november rain
3- samuel barber - adagio for strings (surprised no one mentioned this .. i guess everyone got tuned out of this song, after tiesto's version .. :wtf: )
4- Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune (if anyone doesn't know, the closing song in Ocean's 11.. )
5- Craig Armstrong ft Elizabeth Fraser - This love (from the Cruel Intentions soundtrack .. just an awesome song .. love the piano notes .. )

DarkAngel
Goodbye
Godsmack - I Stand Alone
Body Count - The Winner Loses/C-Note
Stan Bush - The Touch

Forgot the rest. :o
goodgreef
justin hewitt - side by night
