This phone is hot. 4GB mp3 player, 13 hours playback time. Comes out in the fall or winter of this year.

This phone's amazing too. It's got a 2 megapixel camera (with flash) and memory card slots.
And check it out, you can use the exterior screen as a camera viewfinder.
Looks like Nokia's finally getting their together.
:)

I suggest you not to change companies ... Telus has some seriously UGLY phones and new models takes forever to come out. With rogers, you can get any GSM phone, unlock it and your ready to go. |
Hmm...thanks for the tip. I don't completely hate Rogers. I like them a lot better than Bell. I used to have to call Bell EVERY month b/c they messed up on my phone bill. I haven't had too many problems with Rogers, just the reception is kinda ty sometimes. But I guess I'll just have to deal! Haha |

Ha, I see your 2 megapixel and raise you a 7 with a ridculously inconvenient lens.....
Ok, so the lens is actually an add-on piece, but whatever.....
Or if you're willing to settle for a 3 megapixel.....

How exactly do you get service on a phone that isn't sold by any carrier here in Canada?
I'm not up to snuff on my wireless tech. |

Holy ing large. That'd be worth it if I carried a man purse around. But for my pockets? fack that. Totally defeats the purpose of the razr.

In north america, carriers often buy "rights" to a certain phone. It attracts customers to their service because the phone is "exclusive" to them.
To keep it exclusive, they program the phone to only work with their SIM cards (which is a tiny card chip that you put under the battery of the phone). Unlocking a phone (or buying an unlocked phone from overseas) lifts the security setting they have to only accept Rogers or Fido cards, and allows you to accept all.
Now, you can't put a GSM (Rogers and Fido) phone on a CDMA network (Telus or Bell), and I don't think CDMA networks use sim cards. Either way, unlocking a GSM phone only has one valuable purpose now that Rogers owns Fido, and that's for a traveler who can go to any place that has a GSM network, and sign on locally rather than pay monsterous roaming fees.

| No CDMA don't use SIM cards, but you can still use CDMA phones from other areas with Bell and Telus. However, I'm not clear on the details, but these phones also need to be programmed in order to sign onto the carriers network, similar to an unlocking of a GSM phone. |

I have an unlocked Sony T610 from overseas, and I just throw in anybody's simcard and it works.

Being a Cell Phone Junkie (and being a Rogers dealer), I wasn't too impressed with the RAZR.. They went super-cheap on the screen, and really dissapointed me. If they had actually done something about the serious firmware issues in the V Series / Triplets or even *tried* to make the screen resolution somewhat acceptable, I'd have been all over it. |
MobileReview has alot of positive things to say about the Razr. In terms of numbers, the screens bigger, has a higher resolution, and more colours than any of the triplet phones. How could they have gone super-cheap?

What cell phone do you guys and girls have right now?
I recently bought a Palm Treo 600.

(If you are planing on getting this phone, pls don't not activate it from Rogers. You will be looking at the Cell Phone + 3 yrs of Wireless & Data Service ... it's gonna cost you about min. $100 x 36 months = $3600.00+ Not including your normal call and sms habits. Try to get the hardware alone)
I'm planning on getting the Palm Treo 650, but it's costing $899.99 hardware alone. Gonna save up and wait until all the bugs are fixed. |
Hey E2EK1EL where do you get your phone activated then? I'm thinking of getting the Treo 600 myself. Rogers is having it for $99 with a 3 year deal. I just want a great phone w/ PDA and camera option. No email or web crap. Also I'm not sure a 3 year contract is all that cracked up to me nowadays. What do you suggest? The Blackberry 7100r doesn't have a camera :whip: |
