Substance Abuse and Clubs (Are you really in it for the music?)

Do you think that people who have to drop a tab or get drunk to have a good time at a club can really be considered clubbers or people who are there for the music?
To me, if you can't go to a club without needing more than a few drinks or dropping E then you aren't there for the music. Do you get drunk on your own or dose at home when you're listening to your EDM? If no then why do you feel the need to have to do it everytime you go out when the experience is 10x better and should be enough.
I just never understood it, yeah drinking makes you feel great, so does E but why not do it in a place or at a time when you're not in such an enjoyable place as it is? Sure drop a dab every so often or have a drink or two to get your night going but there's a line you cross where to me you just can't call yourself a fan of the DJ anymore. "Yea I loved seeing you spin mr. Picotto you were so good, especialy after 3 pills" I'm sure that he'd appreciate hearing that, it's the type of thing I'm sure makes a DJ ashamed to spin.
What are your thoughts and opinions? |

Well, I always like to drink b/c it loosens up the inhibitions, lets me move a little crazier and be more outgoing, which is good in a club environment. And usually I work before hand, so a few Red Bull Vodka/Jaegers will wake me up, as well as getting me more into it. Not to mention it enhances the experience, and pills just do that ten-fold for me. A great track normally, at that volume and combined with a pill, is just ing unbelievable, and considering how many DJs do or have done substances, I really don't think they'd care, as long as people are enjoying themselves and the music.
I absolutely enjoy the music sober, but substances can take it to a whole different level. |

I often hear people with substance abuse problems tell me that they can enjoy life sober. That they can go to a restaurant without drinking they just choose not to. A smoker saying he can quit whenever he wants. It becomes like hearing a broken record which becomes less convincing over time.
A lot of DJs do drugs because they have hectic schedules. Not that it's an excuse but they need something to keep them up to do a 9 hour set then fly to another country and do it again. I still think that a DJ, while they may do the drugs themselves, wouldn't sleep as well at night knowing that the only people who come to see him spin and enjoy the music he produces and plays are e-tards and alcoholics.
A spoon amuzes someone who is whacked out of their mind, I'm sure DJs everywhere are jumping for joy that they can compete with that. |

Wow.
So, with that attitude, why did you start the E thread in cor asking for advice?
In all seriousness, I'm wondering why you started this thread? You ask for opinions and thoughts; I give you mine and you make assumptions and straight out bash me for giving them? |

My apologies if it seamed like an attack on you, I meant it in no such way. I started the other thread because I don't want to blindly run into doing a drug. I tried it once and enjoyed myself and now I don't plan to use it again for a long while. I made the thread in hopes of getting sound advice and it all worked out well for me and I had an amazing night. That being said I could go do it again without the drug.
Please correct me where I made any assumptions and I'll try to reply with something that sounds a bit less like an attack. I knew I would mainly get replies saying they go hand in hand, I'm just not sure that I understand it. |

| The first paragraph, as well as the last sentence of the second paragraph seem to be assuming that I'm an alcoholic/drug addict and a bit of an attack. Maybe it's just me, that's just how it comes off. No worries though, I see where you're coming from now. |

I don't think clubs will last long if nobody would drink and just be sober. LoL imagine every looking around sober at long breakdowns :nervous:
And yes I go out to get rid off the daily (work)stress. If I would go out and stay sober I would rather stay home.
So now the question is are the clubs in it for the music??? |

As for me , the first thing for me is the music than comes all teh "extras" , i dont have to drink\take drugs to enjoy a good party
but drinkin can loose you up a bit and thats good same as drugs makes you feel the music but it's not a must do thingy for me..

E = Enhancement & Energy, imo.
and yes there have been nights where i've partied completely straight. I get tired quicker though, particularly when the bpms increase as the night goes on.
and anyone who claims alcohol is not a drug, you are wrong.
btw, this ain't no music discussion ;) |

| In my opinion, a true clubber goes for the music. Therefore, s/he shouldn't need to use any drugs to enhance their experience because they should already be loving the music in the first place. However, it's their business what they consume when clubbing. |
