1 DJ only 1 sound ?

I love "trance" or EDM whichever, just as the next guy around here,
but one thing that bothers me is how most artists are only associated with "one sound", for example for most new unkown tunes you hear everyone goes oh this is the sound. It's as if that artist is only allowed to make one sound.
Of course you'll say they can use aliases, but that's not exactly the same thing.
For example with latest Armin tune, Sensation White 2005 anthem so called "Serenity", everyone's started to say "oh but it sounds like Tiesto", I mean like wtf, does that mean a person has a trademark on the sound, or perhaps an instrument.
I think it's all and that artists should be more versatile so you wouldn't know who it is straight on until you had a positive ID... But of course if they do make it, then they're called copycats.
I think it's a shame.
Your thoughts ?

is this about production/or djing...

i mean almost every producer has their own style. Even if it varies from prog to trance to house. Its hard for people to do things totally different especially if it works.

Some producers will use logic, reason, cubase, frooty...

Each has their own sound to it.

Now in the example you point out.

Serenity defiantely has tiesto's Adagio sounds & souviner de chine(sp) sounds. Does it not?

I mean Armin is one of the only producers that I don't I can give him a style. It seems like he has never taken his own path anywhere. To me it seems like he is just a blend of everyone else. I can point at Tiesto, Ferry, Paul, Airwave, Digweed, MIKE, Nu NRG, Helstrip, Ralphie B... And almost know instantly this or that is theirs. Armin just doesnt have that.
UWM
Which just leads one to believe that he isn't creative enough to come up with his own unique sound so he has to copy that of others around him.

Flame away, but can you really argue against it?
Fresh Prince
Fair enough you may argue this point on his productions, if you don't like them. But this is the same versatility that I like, in another words you could say those other artists are only stuck in 1 sound while Armin is unpredictable/unrecognisable, which consequently makes it more fun to listen to him, I mean after all you should listen to some of his house songs, they're very good.
But as a DJ he's got his 'sound', ie. tunes that he plays, I can recognise if it's his set.

i beg to differ.....i think you can spot an armin production a mile off....mabye he should be a bit more creative, and do something different, because alot of his work is fluffy and can sound quite flat....he mite not pull it off.....but if that happens, then so what....at least he tryed to do something different....its the same with all the others dj's mentioned above
SYSTEM-J
My thoughts are that "DJ" DOES NOT MEAN ING "PRODUCER" .
