If those people are flying out anyway, the amount of air pollution from the planes is the same. What's different is that now they have to get to Pearson, which itself creates pollution.
Now the rail link to Pearson from downtown will also be cancelled.

By cancelling the expressway expansions, the island fixed link, and now the airport rail link, Toronto has fallen way behind in terms of transportation infrastructure. All the while, pollution has actually INCREASED.
Toronto is dying a slow death. The local politicians have absolutely no long-term vision. Another problem is the "not in my backyard" attitude of people in the Annex, the Islands, and in Weston. |

While the Island residents can be complainers, what was neglected in that quote was THIS from the same story in the Toronto Star:

| I think Wasaga Beach has this many arrests with or without woodstock anyway...every time I'm there a bunch of stupid ginos and kids get in fights and police patrol the beach ALL THE TIME! I was thinking I am in some military state when I was there last time...on the other hand you do feel somewhat safe... :nervous: |
