Anjunabeats launches new label: AnjunaDeep
Ozgur Can joins the A&R team
UK trance label Anjunabeats is launching a new "AnjunaDeep" imprint and has agreed a deal that will see Ozgur Can join the A&R team.
First up on the AnjunaDeep release schedule is David West featuring Andreas Hermansson "Larry Mountains 54", a genre-busting fusion of techno and disco house - think James Holden meets Daft Punk. The track is set for release on July 18 and is also due to feature on Above & Beyond's forthcoming Anjunabeats Volume 3 compilation.
Jono Grant, one third of label owners Above & Beyond, explains the music policy for the new AnjunaDeep label: We'll be looking for stuff at the deeper end of the prog and trance spectrum and it'll need to have really strong dancefloor impact. Our focus is going to be on quality not quantity.
AnjunaDeep will be jointly A&R'ed by Above & Beyond and rising Swedish producer/DJ Ozgur Can. A combination of genre-defying productions and explosive DJ sets have helped establish Ozgur as one of the hottest new talents on the progressive scene.
Commenting on the news, Can said: I get sent so much great music and it's exciting to now have an outlet for it. AnjunaDeep is going to be about finding and releasing the cream of progressive house and trance.
The label is open to demo submissions. The address for demos is [email protected] and the preferred format is a mp3 server link.
All AnjunaDeep music and merchandise will be incorporated into the Anjunabeats website at www.anjunabeats.com and the site will soon feature a special AnjunaDeep forum section, for people to post demos and chat about the music

Wow, I'm sure looking forward to these "genre defying" and "genre-busting" "progressive" releases. After all, with Anjuna's groundbreaking release standard, this just has to be good.

To be honest, I think they've missed the boat by a year or so.
Ozgur Can's use by date expired around 01/01/05.
Blame it on the lack of him striving for difference / innovation in his productions.

you've obviously not read the article. he's not being signed as an artist, but as an additional A&R body to find suitable records for the anjunadeep label. I imagine some of his material may well appear on the label, but that's not what this is about. |

Exactly the point (you are well to disagree with me, it's just one opinion).
I read the article and posted what you see above.
And like I've stated, I think they've missed the boat by a year or so. That standard of what they're calling "progressive trance" seems to have had it's run and if they are also going to go by his standards and release records he blesses, then I can't see the music being well off.
But hey, Anjuna has been successful money wise, and even though Above & Beyond don't show much range production wise, they still seem to be doing well for themselves. So maybe this will do o.k. money wise, but I don't see it bringing dance music foward, and well.. Isn't that what 'progressive' is all about?

fair point.
i've never been into progressive music, i've onyl ever liked a few tunes, so i can't really comment.
they say they're only going to release the cream of the crop, so the proof will be in the pudding.
for the prog fans.. is "Larry Mountains 54" any good? i havent heard it yet, and not being a fan of the genre in general it would seem silly for me to comment anyway.
anjuna haven't really slipped up yet imo in terms of what they've signed to the original label and i know they dont make decisions too lightly, and especially when it comes down to opening a sub label.
i don't know where you got the idea money was being raked in at anjuna, because from my understanding, they do "alright", and "get by" with the intake. things must be perking up though since the launch of anjunadigital, cd single line, new merchandise, but i was always under the impression that cash is tight there :conf: hence employing work experience people on no pay  |
