Canadian Whining...it's affecting your lifestyle in a negative way

So in the past few days alone, people whining about nothing has made the news in the Toronto area and this affects your very lifestyle.
First we have the condo whiners who moved into the entertainment district and then started complaining about the noise. This is typical in a recent trend in the past 20 years. People move in next to lots of things and then complain. The problem is that now politicians actually listen to these people and create laws that stifle the pulse of communities. So now? No more clubs can open in the entertainment district. This is the same district the city actually helped create by disallowing liquor licences issues anywhere outside the entertainment district.
Second we have wakestock that was moved from wasaga beach to the toronto island. Wakestock was already moved thanks to NIMBYs in Wasaga who do not understand that while there are 1000s of little quiet cottage towns in Ontario, Wasaga is one of very few places where young people go to party. It's been like that since the days of our grandparents. And now suddenly its a problem? Then you have the island whiners who predictably are crying about people actually making use of Toronto's second biggest public space. If you dont like living next a huge place of public gathering, MOVE! These people are also trying to kill the fun at the Docks. FAAK AAAF ALREADY!
Third we have the NIMBYs that are complaining about the rail link to the airport. Something that we DESPERATELY need. Its not good enough that they presented a second proposal that minimized road closures. Oh No, they dont want it at all. Whatever happened to the days when the government just said " you" and expropriated the land in the name of public good? These idiots should be lucky they got a secondary proposal in the first place. Oh and they probably wouldnt need the rail link had this same community not stopped the allen expressway in the 70s. But this is why Toronto will always be nothing more than a provincial capital as opposed to a world class city.
The funny thing is that certain people on TA are complaining about these people. Most of the time THEY ARE one of these people when it comes to issues that doesnt affect them. Yet, when it affects something they like to do all of a sudden the islanders/wasaga people/condo dwellers are the bad guys. Step up and defend everyone's rights, not just yours.
What can we do about this culture of complaining that we have created? Its seriously affecting our right to enjoy our own lifestyle and killing the economy of this country. There must be an answer somewhere because i really dont want to be forced to move one day. |

Ritoric question Jay :why no one complains about Guverment?
Jay if your neighbours were throwing out parties 3 times a week - bass, honking, drunk people and such ,would you move away from your neighbourhood? |

Well i dont think anyone actually lives near there. I do believe the reason the sound on the skybar is lower now is because the sound carried across the water and the islanders complained. what else is new?

If i knew this was carrying on before i moved there then id have no leg to stand on. I would either put up with it or move.
Its funny you ask because i live over a pub and from thurs to sat the music pounds through my floor and drunk people are outside. After a few weeks i got used to it. The pub was there first. Pubs are supposed to make noise or else they probably arent doing much business. If i want peace and quiet i wont live above a pub.
See... i do practice what a i preach. |

Sounds like a university campus...
If I were them and actually bought a place in that area, I would suggest that they do a little more homework about their neighborhood other than the shinejob they just got snowed with by the real-estate agent...
They have no one to blame but themselves, especially if the area is KNOWN to be loud and boisterous during the night... |

How long has the city of toronto existed next to these islands? I know in the past these people whined about ships blowing horns in the ports and planes at the airport. So whining about a club is simply an extention of their whining lifestyle. |

lets not bring the discussion to the question - who born first, egg or a chicken.
the whole point of this is that owners of the private property don't want to listen to loud music at night. and they were there first. |

When I was at the skybar last time I noticed that it wasn't as loud as other times. I guess this explains it. |
