Apparently city council will not renew the Dock's business licence unless they ban people from being outdoors past midnight and INDOORS past 3:30 am. I see this as a test case for shutting down ALL CLUBS early.

The city can and will do this unless we make some noise. We DO NOT live in a free society like most people think we do.

I think it may be time to move.

Ban people from being outdoors past midnight??? How does that work.... What about smoking areas and/or tents?

I don't think it's necessary to shut down at a certain time.. If shootings/bad things are going to happen, they'll happen regardless of the time...

How does that happen? It happens because the government says it happens. As for smoking areas? Do you think city hall really gives a ? The government can do anything it wants and the only way it wont is if enough people make noise and organize so it looks like their chances of being re-elected become doomed because of it. But since most canadians are apathetic they will continue to get away with doing whatever they want.

Source? If this is true, I'm sure it won't effect DT!!! (i.e. I hope the current license doesn't expire for a while...) :nervous:

I agree. I fully support the Islanders right to not be unreasonably disturbed by outdoor events after a certain hour...but if the Docks meets our noise bylaws by properly insulating their building, then this non-renewal threat is going to far, IMHO.

The islanders need to realize where they live. On a body of water next to a major city. Since sound carries for miles on water they should not be surprised that they hear sounds coming from the city they live next to.

I wish people started to realize where they live instead of forcing their cul de sac suburban ideals on everyone else. There are plenty of places to go for peace and quiet without having to move to areas that are well known for large public gatherings such as the island or the entertainment district that inevitably create noise.
