I'm waxing philosophical right now so bare with me. When one thinks of prostitution, one usually associates the word with sex, hookers, brothels, the red light district or what have you. Rarely, if ever, one expands this pre-conceived notion to include the underlying concept of prostitution, that of "providing a service for money". If one goes by that concept, then it is fair to say that one can prostitute one's body as well as one's mind. Yet, it is only the former that has generally garnered, regardless of era, location or culture, a negative connotation within society at large.
Prostituting one's mind, on the other hand, has been held in high esteem in many societies, despite it often being much more detrimental to society as a whole. Those poor bastards lending their minds to corporate America, for instance, are prime examples of prostitutes. They are, in every sense of the term, providing a service for a salary, that service in question being the utilization of their minds to maximize profit for a certain company or organization, usually to the detriment of others or on the backs of others. It is not far-fetched to suggest that some engineer renting his mind to further the profits of some major oil company, for instance, does much more harm to society at large by contributing to the pollution of the environment and the exploitation of workers in some third world country than some poor whore in the ghettos of brazil offering a blow job for a buck.
Why is it, then, that prostitution of the body is viewed, almost without exception, as something so much worse than that of the mind? Afterall, they are based on the same concept: the exchange of a body part for some dough. I offer my brain, she offers her vagina or he offers his dick. What's the difference? |

Epi, there is no difference, whatsoever....but a mind is not a physical object, so maybe thats why they see it differently. Good point regardless.
P.S. I saw in your show list that Sasha is coming june 11th, its not confirmed, yet. But after the feedback from the last show he cop'd out on, I told him he better not do it again!!!! He knows and recognizes his fans here so he'll prob make it! :D

i think you can sum this down to on point. prostitution of the body, is done in a sexual manner. where as the mind is hoaring out your knowledge
this difference is what makes ppl stomac turn. ppl can stomac murder and disasters much more then crimes of sexual nature
example. O.J simpson case, the man murders his wife, and they play it live on national TV.
Michael Jaskson sexual abuses kids, and they are gonna be showing that on TV.
sociaty is not comfortable with issues of a sexual nature.

| That's some pretty profound stuff Epi, you articulate yourself very well! But we can't always refer to these "mind-whores" as "they," because living in the western world, each and every one of us has a section of our minds whored to the American corporations, even if you don't always realize it. They bombard us with ads in every aspect of our lives, telling us that the key to being happy, popular, individual, etc. is to buy and consume their products. But surprise: in our North American consumer society, the number one disease is Depression. But people keep buying they don't need because of these ads, fueling the corporations to grow even more, own even more aspects of our lives...They own the products, they own the media that promotes the products, it never ends! Anyway I could go on and on about this ...I just took a whole class about it lol. JinX_33 knows what im talking about.;) |

u make a point nikkkkkk..... but with out this prostitution there would be no advances in technology and so forth.. our lives would be compleatly useless.so technically is not the same.
a doctor getting paid to do reaserch to find the cure for aids does not equal a blow job for a buck....
but ill stop trying to argue with u.. ull win cause u suck :p
btw hookers in montreal = hawt... is it legal over there or wut.. wtf cause we were walking down the street and the bitches were all like.. U WANT SOME ASS?!?! hahaha |
