Producing with software only
View this Thread in Original format

I have been a producer of trance music for over 3 years now. When I just began I used the studio of a friend of mine, but I find producing using just software a lot easier and more fun to do. My friend says that real producers don't use software, but I think this is not entirely true. I know for instance that Rank 1 preferes software too. Are there more producers using just software?
DjMorpheus
A lot!!!!
There are even pro-producers that switch from hardware to software (you mentioned rank 1). Rank1 has made an essemble in Reaktor witch the use a lot, and NO, you can't download it somewhere ;)

It's not what you use, it's how you use it.

I have made my own music production software too! It's basicly an improved version of Cubase SX 3, using influences of FL Studio 5 and Filterfactory 7.3...

Pic's, screenshot's?
I'm interesting.

Programmed by yourself?
Traiden
Yep, all by myself! I know a lot about different programming lanqueges (ofzoiets...) The program is on my other computer so I can't take a screenshot right now, but I'll post one tomorrow!

Hmmz, did you code it with c++ or so.
It's not easy, have you implemented a midi-clock etc also?
Or is it samplebased?
Traiden
It uses both samples and midi files. Maybe I'll put it on the internet in some time, if so, you're the first one to hear :)

That's Right !

at now i use only software and hardware(Midi Controller) and think i produce good music.

but Hardware > Software why ? SOUND ! Warm beautiful and clean.

more, and more software, and less quality music..

as if hardware makes for better music?

I read an interesting interview of rank 1. He notes that you can "approximately" reproduce the sounds with software. If it sounds different, it's fun or something like that.

Well...look at those guys taht someone posted here... sun something... they got a nord lead..a nord g..a jp8080..tons of analog and digital recorders / mixers .. bass machines and drums machines. metronomes to say make their music more in key. and it sounds like it was made in a macromedia flash video game with preset samples. honestly its just a lesson about how having loads of hardware still wont save you from making crappy music. it takes inspiration and a want. matters how yo use what you have.
