Producing with software only

I have been a producer of trance music for over 3 years now. When I just began I used the studio of a friend of mine, but I find producing using just software a lot easier and more fun to do. My friend says that real producers don't use software, but I think this is not entirely true. I know for instance that Rank 1 preferes software too. Are there more producers using just software? |

A lot!!!!
There are even pro-producers that switch from hardware to software (you mentioned rank 1). Rank1 has made an essemble in Reaktor witch the use a lot, and NO, you can't download it somewhere ;)
It's not what you use, it's how you use it. |

I have made my own music production software too! It's basicly an improved version of Cubase SX 3, using influences of FL Studio 5 and Filterfactory 7.3... |

Hmmz, did you code it with c++ or so.
It's not easy, have you implemented a midi-clock etc also?
Or is it samplebased? |

It uses both samples and midi files. Maybe I'll put it on the internet in some time, if so, you're the first one to hear :) |

Well...look at those guys taht someone posted here... sun something... they got a nord lead..a nord g..a jp8080..tons of analog and digital recorders / mixers .. bass machines and drums machines. metronomes to say make their music more in key. and it sounds like it was made in a macromedia flash video game with preset samples. honestly its just a lesson about how having loads of hardware still wont save you from making crappy music. it takes inspiration and a want. matters how yo use what you have. |
