I got the TTX's and as soon as I playe don Technics I wanted to swap. its THAT simple! They dont hold their pitch as well as Technics, had to make many more adjustments with the Numarks. Buy the best, and that is the Technics baby! :eyes:

You should do what I did and pick up a pair of the exact turntables you will find in every nightclub across the world. Thats right, a 10+ year old pair of beat up Technics 1200 MKIIs. Should only cost you $500US dollars and you'll be set for your DJ career. If anything goes wrong with them there is a huge library of fixes on the net that are cheap and easy plus you'll be able to resell for the exact same price you paid. You can't beat that with a stick.

My first decks ever were Numark tt-1's. They were pretty decent direct drive turntables. they were a good start, and are actually quite similar to the TTX's. I moved on to 1210-MK5's and I haven't looked back since. My buddy has TTX's... they are alright to spin on... but I still prefer the techs. I don't think TTX's would be a bad choice... its just that since the techs are standard, why not?

Personally i have to agree with the fellow TA's on this one... If its between numark and tech's then there is not really much competition at all... The lcd screen is pointless, annoying and if you really need bpm counters to mix then you should take a long hard look at yourself.

There are better decks out there before numark I mean I personally own the stanton st.150's and think there the best all round but thats just me not to mention vestax make a mean table as well. But its not really part of this discussion so ill leave it out.

But yeah if it ever came down to between screwmark or techs its just a pointless discussion which has been had before in these forums so many times... Stick with the techs and you wont be dissapointed thats something that is ultimately guaranteed when you get them... screwmarks are weird looking bubble things anyway.

i heard less stories about str8-100's crapping out then ttx's. to tell you the truth... i never heard many stories at all about str8-100's or 150's. dont know why everyone buys numark.

yeah...im going to have to suggest gemini xl-100's . If you can mix on those, you will be god. Haha jus in with ya. Pick up the techs man. I'd list reasons why, but they've all been said.

But seriously...if you can mix on gemini xl-100's, once you move to techs, you are a god. Of course its hard as to mix on those 99 dollar pieces of . Good luck with the techs, you wont need it cuz they own.

Where in Canada do they sell the Technics? What stores have good prices (could be online or retail)

lol more comparing of decks.

I use one of each side by side, same carts, stylus and same dj.

Out of the two I probably use the TTX more, it has more pitch and more torque which I find better for mixing.

They are both very good decks and cost around the same price now.

This is some of the things I think is good and bad about both.

The TTX has an lcd screen which tells you your exact pitch reading, the 1200 doesnt.

The TTX has 3 pitch settings meaning I can mix anything I want.

The 1200 looks the nicer out of the two IMO.

They are both very well built and neither will break unless you do something silly.

The TTX has more torque, good and bad for some people but the 3.4kg is just about right for mixing trance comparing it to vestax and other high torque decks.

The 1200 probably holds pitch a bit better as mentioned before.

The TTX has no lid which is a big let down where the 1200 does.

The pitch slider on the 1200 is a little stiffer than the TTX allowing finer adjustments IMO.

Although saying this If I could afford a pair a mk5g's then they would piss over both.

So Tech mk5g's beat 1200's and TTX's but you are only going to get one of them for close to price of two of these so that says everything.

Sorry to drag this on but ... How does the stanton st-150 hold their pitch, and is the pitch fader stiff like technics? I like to mix deep so i want something that will be able to very accurately beat match! i know it comes down to the dj too but i would think having a turntable wouldnt help. I also like the digital output too so thats an advantage with the stantons over the techs. Do the stantons feel different to techs too?

techs feel 100% smoother and more durable than the stantons. the pitch accuracy will be far better on a 1200. and as for the digital output. well are vinyls digital? no. does you mixer have digital ins? probably not. even if i does, the signal still has to go to analog before it hits the speaker anyways. the only time a digital output can improve your sound quality is if you are using CDs or other digital sources. the fewer D/A (digital/analog) conversaions you have the better your sound will be overall.

buy techs, nuff said.
