Hey guys,
Not entirely new here, I registered last October, but had a really weird last few months and not done much on the net at all.
Anyway,I just purchased my first set of decks, and I am still needing alot of help knowing what does what,on my mixer, even though at the moment I am still just trying to mix songs as well together as possibleeven though I do not have much vinyl.
I have a Numark DM905 mixer and was hoping someone could give me a hand understanding it, my turntables are Numark TT-1510's, not the best I know but hey... money is an issue with me at the moment and they have not been used really as I know the previous owner.
If anyone has any advice for me to start with, and help me just get better with the decks it would be great.
Thanks alot,

That mixer is a basic 2 channel mixer. What dont you understand about it?
Have you read the manual? |

Do not have one :(
I want help knowing what each switch, flip etc.
There anywhere on the interweb I can find help on it,about what each thing does and how best to use it? |

go to...
www.numark.com
click on support
then click on manuals
then choose your model.
to be honest, there isnt much to your mixer. once you connect everything, set the channels to phono, etc, you are done.
after that its a matter of keeping the crosfader in the middle and using the faders to change channels as you mix. as you mix, use the eq's to adjust.
its a basic mixer to teach you basic mixing. |

| I think you will learn best while playing around with it. |

| Your best bet is to find a local music store that supplies mixers/turntables and play around. if not then try finding a DJ rental and play around with the dj equipment for a bit. |

alright you will get used to it if you play around and also what the other people in the forum has said.
one thing i dont understand people who are interested but yet go out and buy a mixer and dont know nothing about what it does, i think that is a bit odd?
although there is always a time when we learn something through interest, so therefore we got to start somewhere!
i guess it just me! i always need to understand the concept involved before i could actually start achieving anything or having fun.
good luck mate and enjoy spinin, remember that you are only new and dont expect much from yourself.
start with some basic techniques. |

Thanks guys,helped me alot.
I have friends who mix and I have seen people do it, and I know the basic controls on my mixer and how to use the crossfader.
Thanks CosmoKid for help getting the manual, know what everything is so hopefully can progress quicker.
Thanks |

Tip -
knowing how to use the crossfader is really only something relevant when scratching
when mixing, learn to use both the crossfader and your upfaders(channel faders) to introduce the next track as well as understanding how to work your EQs |
