i just got my beautifull oakenfold shirt. it cost me 50$ canadian! but i am SO happy, now i will be the only one with an oakenfold shirt in my WHOLE school (and probably most of the schools in my area) meh..
so happy! |

$50?...I don't like Oakenfold that much anymore. Maybe back in '99 when he was awesome but now he's only OK. I'd rather try to find that Blank&Jones shirt from the Nightfly vid or a Tiesto or PvD shirt.
I'd like to see the pic too...where did you buy it too? |

"I'm an idiot cause I want paul oakenfolds name on my chest"
or you could get a shirt that says
"sellout"
or you can get a shirt that says
"I have taken every opportunity so that I can be more famous, and never smile at the crowd.........maybe once (but it'd be a fake smile).....
and I wish I was as solid as tiesto, but I don't really care about the people I spin for.......just myself.......and money...."
(not that there's anything wrong with that)

i see lots of anger towards oakey all the time
suppose that's why..
i don't hear alot of his 2001 mixes or anything i hear alot of his stuff from 2000 and 99 becuz that's all i can get at in winmx (his name pops up a good 800+ results!)
i like his muzik... does that make me a bad person? i haven't heard him in concert, but his mixes that i hear on mp3 are good. |

hey man....
I owe oakey cause back in the day.....he was definitely solid...but I've seen his ways live to many times.....and he's not really about positive energy.....he's talented.........for sure.....gets the good tracks first....(used to at least)....no ofcourse you're not a bad person if you like him.....but I'm just saying that there are better dj's..........that are in it more for the music than for glam......oakey i'm afraid....is no longer in it just for the music.........have you seen him live........have you seen tiesto live.......
there's more to being a dj than just mixing and choosin trakcs, and reading the crowd........
I don't mean to rain on your parade......
but I'm just imparting upon you the truth.....as I see it.

hell i haven't been to any DJ raves/clubs at all, i'm 16 in vancouver and i havne't gone to anything :(
and i know, PvD is GREAT and i really enjoy Sasha. oakey is not the only one.
when oakey came to vancouver i didn't go becuase the tickets were $74! and plus.. oakey (in an interview after the date at which he came to vancouver) said he hadn't been there! gah!
so i dunno
i still like his music and your right he is talented, i mean his soundtracks are good. but i'm reading from what i've downloaded off the net, and PvD has not done alot of mixes, Sasha/Digweed has, oakey has tones! so that's where i'm getting my opinion from
i wish i could get some of PvD's new stuff... anything! the few tracks i have are very very good. most of my stuff is from 99'
i feel out of sinc here, i have all old stuff and my opinions are from what i've heard over the net (you should see my cd collection, all mp3's that are burned because of all the mp3's i have!) my interest in trance came from the internet.. |

Welcome to TranceAddict, mr_sax....
First off everyone that shirt is $22....... i think mr_sax meant 50 canadian.... second mr_sax don't listen to their oakenfold bashing. I've seen the guy 8 times in the past 2 years and he hasn't lost his touch - in fact his mixing skills are better than ever. People just don't like his track selection and everyone says he's doing it now "for the money"....... which IMO is a bunch of crap. He's already a multi-millionaire he could have retired on his money years ago. Someone doing it "for the money" wouldn't put themselves through such a rigorous touring schedule - the guy plays at least 3 dates a week! all year long!
Everyone's just mad b/c he is so popular - even people that don't like trance have heard of him.... that's why people don't like him. either that or because he doesn't stick to trance anymore (like he did in 99 and 2000.....) now he throws down some progressive house too.... but the 8 times i have seen him in the last 2 years, EVERY set was different - only about 3 songs i heard more than once. A lot of people's opinions are already set BEFORE they see him - they go to the show with a negative outlook right off the bat..... its all mentality. every time i see him, he has his arms out, smiles on the face the ENTIRE time, and i even got to meet him for an autograph..... GREAT guy he is to his fans (contrary to what everyone else says)....
But what it comes down to is EVERY DJ has their bad days - anyone can be a dick, depends what kind of night they had or if they had a bad day. Also people can't forget that Oakey's been spinning STRAIGHT since like 1992 or somethin..... he's had residencies at COUNTLESS clubs..... can you IMAGINE how many livesets that equates to? I bet you he's done more sets in his life than PvD and Tiesto combined. You really can't compare him to those two b/c oakey's been doing it longer.... he's the daddy. He has paid his dues, he can do whatever he wants.
If people don't like his track selection, thats fine. admit that. but i'm sick of everyone saying oakenfold "sold out" , or "sucks"...... because he didn't. IMO he is trying to bring trance to america..... hence all the MTV appearances and touring. and i applaud him for that. I would LOVE to see other TA's try to stand in the way of THAT!

Robby , i have to agree with you on this one , it pisses me off when people who hate trance (and don't know a crap about it) keep on saying : oh yeah that Oakenfold dude is awesome , he's the number 1 dj in the world ... and yes i don't like him anymore because he doesn't play a lot of trance now i'm a trance addict , not a dj addict (except for PvD and AvB hehe) |
