Lesson 87, please don't hahahaaa . What?

edit:/ Who actually watched this again? It's one of those I watched, let a friend borrow and then didn't even care about getting back. I didn't want it back.

i've seen it about...16 times? twice for a uni project.

about pi: watch it again. it's all about that concept of 216 digits being the bases of everything. numbers being the bases of everything. then there's paranoia. and Aronofsky's usual direction of getting rid of nervous tics or reality by injecting or consuming something. watch it again and you'll notice the editing is quite similar. the score was done by Clint Mansell, as well. so the music has a similar feel.
he wrote and directed it. it's genius, in a different sense, with his touch all over it.

alright.

It's a very well structured movie, but be prepared to pay attention. You'll enjoy it.

[quote[+1 i wasn't a big fan of Pi......[/quote]
It was ok, but parts were questionable. I think they really overdid it with his skitso episodes, and there seems to have been an inconsistency between his personality being explored, and the mathematics involved.

Additionally, if you guys want to see a movie within this vein, I strongly suggest you go out and find Irreversible. One of the best movies I've ever seen. Disturbing at some scenes, definitely not a happy movie, but again, the way it's structured and filmed, just brilliant. I've also heard good things about Amelie. I haven't seen it yet, but it's in the line.

Yes, Clint Mansell's work heightens all perception and emotion. I understood the concept, about breaking the desired code and math being the language of nature and during all this another layer being added; his sickness and paranoia of those after him. I think the black and white added even another. I love the name Euclid though. As I said, patterns and the search for rationality goes over my head. What game were him and his teacher playing? *Edit: I read a synopsis on the film because I was to write a paper in Math and chose to do it over Pi. As it turns out, the author of the synopsis was a huge fan. He found relevance in the film that I couldn't even comprehend. I guess that mathmaticians find the film to be irrelevant on many principles. I will try to find the article for you.

Stren: I haven't heard of Below and The Fountain. I just thought these were his two works. I'll definately check those out!
