Dude, this is more an anti-Parish thread then an anti-Liberal thread.

To tell you the truth I'm not sure who I would vote for if an election were held today. Since I'm not ideologically alined with any of the parties I tend to vote based on the candidate. I moved recently and don't know much about the candidates in my riding yet...

if you dont like all of them its better to show up and decline your ballot then to just not vote. Because then it goes on record as a protest vote as "declined" and sends a message to all candidates that none of them were worth voting for.

I've done scrutaneering (that must be spelt wrong) on past elections, trust me no candidate cares about the spoiled ballots. It's good in theory but no one actually gives a damn.

There is always a candidate that rises above the others, that's the one that gets my vote.

BTW, am I the only one that goes to the riding debates....

they dont care if its a handful but what if everyone who is fed up went in and declined their vote instead of doing what they do now which is stay at home? That would certainly raise eyebrows.

Maybe but i at least watch them on cable access tv LOL... i watched the ones with stronach last year. Thats why my family and i have always thought she was an idiot even when a conservative. HEr famous line when asked a question was "i dont know, let me get back to you on that"

She must have said that about 7 or 8 times!!!

I definately voted for the party in the last election

True. Unfortunately, people tend to turn to apathy when frustrated rather then action. If more people did take action then we could make some meaningful changes, however, so long as the bulk of the population remains apathetic or too self absorbed to be bothered then we will remain stagnet. Hell, even the self proclaimed party of change or reformers if you will don't want to make too many changes.... Harper's speach to the Fraiser Institute last month is proof of that (he hedged every statement he made... which is actually a wise move if you are trying to gain support in Ontario which is afraid of change).

thats my problem... the status quo doesnt work yet anyone who wants to change anything is labelled an extremist.

Something is going to give sooner than later and thats what im afraid of.

which of course means.... "sorry but my handlers have not prepared an answer for me in this regard so I will passivly dismiss your question and hope that no one asks me a follow up."

Paul Martin has to bribe and barter to stay in office. How sad for him.

I'm hoping for a fascist revolution (please note, fascist does not equal Nazi). To that end I would like to see the status quo continue for a decade or so.... that will build up the angst enough that people will embrace the revolution.

The truth is....the candidates don't care if all but one person goes in and spoils their ballets....as long as the one vote is for them.
