I'm here today to prove that the world of Video Games has been in a slow but steady decline since the release of the last generation of video game consoles (The ones in question being the Sony Playstation 2, the Microsoft X-Box, the Sega Dreamcast and the Nintendo Gamecube). |

What decline wtf you talkin bout.
All im saying is that I stopped playing video games around 1999 or 2000, and the last games i played were like majoras mask for n64, perfect dark for n64, starcraft for pc, and I played alot of CS, and HL at friends house (my mom wouldnt let me have the game at the time) so anyways that was back in 2000, and that summer i quit playing video games, majoras mask was the last one i ever bought, and played.
So now, just this summer, I got bored and decided to start playing again. I played through some n64 favourites, man mystical ninja goemon games were awesome for n64.
Then I look at console games, for the newer systems, and they are all the same, they are most often alot of the same characters we had back then, but most importantly, the games are laid out the same! They are pretty much just upgraded n64 games, where as the leap between systems before that was huge. Alot of the same characters yes, but gameplay was completely different.
So then I go to PC, and guess what i find is the most popular new game HL2 and COUNTERSTRIKE SOURCE both of which are not very different than 5 years ago, infact, I would say exactly the same as 5 years ago.
WTF HAPPENED. ALL I SEE CHANGED IN 5 YEARS IS A BIT BETTER GRAPHICS WHICH ISNT MUCH TO ME. |

Exactly! That's the decline I'm talking about. Rather than progressing, the industry can't even plateau in the quality of the games. They keep repackaging the same game with more add-on's (GTA being the PRIME example). Only once in every few months do we see a game that's actually worthy of being played. It's a decline, not a plateau.
By the way, I'd like to say that Majora no Kamen (Majora's Mask) was my favorite Zelda title. Hopefully Twilight Princess will be even better.
I also find myself returning to play the last generation of games more than the latest game releases. ::goes over to N64 to pop in Banjo Kazooie cart to start a new save file:: |

The entire span of the Goemon games are awesome. A new one is about to be released for the Nintendo DS. I sure do want to get my hands on it. So goofy! |
