Was having a conversation with a friend of mine yesterday who in many ways is an A list trance dj, he was saying to me how dissapointed he was at the amount of people who now dislike him for no other reason than the fact that he is now famous around the world.
He says he still plays the same music as he always has so why do so many people now slag him off for that, my reply to him was the more famous u get the more jealousy it brings and i used Judge Jules as an example, at one point a few years ago there was a poll on his own website for favourite dj which he WON and least Favourite dj which he WON as well.
Its Just life i'm afraid which brings me to my question, would you prefer to be an A list dj playing to packed stadiums like TIESTO and after a few years your popularity starts to die and you start receiving loads of critism etc.. or would you rather be a well liked DJ within both the Industry and the clubs and have a long sustained career?? |

| Id go for teh stadium one. thats just gotta kick ass seeing that many people, and all your doing is djing. After that, with teh right investments, I wouldn't need to work so I could just quit. |

| i'd choose 2, i don't ever want to be a huge famous dj, just well-known in the circles in whatever city i end up in would be nice. a bi-weekly residency at a decent club in town with a decent crowd and guest djs would be all i ever want. leaves me the freedom to do what i want on weekdays and just have fun on weekends spinning and bringing good music to people. |

| Popularity always attracts haters, simply because of that popularity. A few people might hate a small DJ but most of the world isn't aware enough to care, but as he gets bigger, more people are aware of him and more hate him. |

Its got nothing to do with jealousy
the fact is the more famous a dj gets the more lazy he gets aswell his/her mixing quality will get worse cose they think that they dont have to try as hard to make the crowd happy and there probably right.
When ur not as well known people actually go to watch the dj cose there good and they will build up a good reputation but if u then get famous like tiesto alot of the people that go to see u r there not cose of ur dj skills but just cose ur name is tiesto and they want to see u in the flesh. i think that these famous djs deserve all the abuse they get there just not half as bothered about making an effort as these lesser known djs. |

| all he's ever done is play trance hit after last weeks trance hit, mixing on the throwaway beats at the beginning and end of each trance track. that's what he does now, and that's what he did in 2001. he became big for the same reason any other trance dj becomes big, because of marketing and being in the right time at the right place. |
