its all about the music and who u go with. The only time i hate a crowd is when they are full of attitude. Otherwise i dont care who they are, if they are having fun and the music is good then its a good night. Im glad some people around here werent around during the rave/warehouse/underground club days. They would have completely ruined the vibe with their judgemental bull.

Funny how no one even uses the word vibe or describes what it was like in any reviews anymore.

+1............DANNY T VIBE= DIRTY DIRTY HOUSE, FRIENDLY PPL, GOOD TIMES ALL OVER!!!....mix of Gay nd Str8 ppl....Love in the air...at times there was some pushing and shoving but believe me as the night progressed the VIBE just kept getting better and Danny T just kept throwing Of da hooK BombS I Tell U!!

Vibe/atmosphere is an essential part of an amazing party for sure! If ur goin to a place and the vibe is u can still pump it up just go dance around ppl and be super hype ...that's what i was doing with a lot o ppl last night! p.s i know this is not a Danny T thread but I just wanted to say that I agree with JayX1

How'd you like my "ADAGIO FOR STRINGS!!! WOO!!!" text msg there hun ;) Would have been great to see you out at Republik hun; but I'm sure you had lot's of fun at Danny T.

Alright; review time.

I get a phonecall from Kandaio at about 3:45pm saying; "We have to go to Toronto NOW to get my new Turntables, we have to be at the store by 6!"

So, of course I'm not showered or anything...but it gave me an excuse to make it to Toronto and downtown all the way from London in under 1hr 45. We did it though... and on a holiday weekend with no speeding ticket to boot. ;) So after picking up the brand new set of Numark TTX1's we now were in Toronto at 6:30pm while all our friends were away from the city for the long weekend. We decided to hit up some dinner (Montana) and then a movie (Kicking and Screaming) and we were ready to party.

We walked down to Republik and I saw the door bouncers with their communist/Russian style coats and knew this club was going to be cool. We got in pretty quick (slightly reduced price I think, can't remember) and in we went. The one guy told me I had to check my sweater which confused me, otherwise everyone seemed... well, oddly nice *cough* unlike the Guv *cough*

In we went to see some pretty slick lasers in the opening room, unfortunately not the greatest tunes. We quickly ducked around the corner to find the main room and WOW! We entered it and just the colors were incredible; whoever designed this club was an absolute genius. The professional pics I'd seen seriously don't do justice until you're there to see everything at once. The colors, the architecture, the light stages with the plasma TV's...just amazing.

Not to mention the sound booming out of those speakers; great placement and sound. The rumble that they pound out is pretty intense.

Noticed quite a few really young people in there and then remembered it was an 18+ event. The younger people looked like they were having fun right from the start though; so that was awesome. Some of them looked like they were trying too hard to be 'raver people' though, but what can you do.

Walter's set was just great. I was really digging it. He played some serious tunes that really got my energy level up and ready for the night. That's when I met up with some of the TA's for the night; Karen, the lovely Karen :P, Cale, Barry, Dennis, Richard (finally met you man!), Del, and a bunch of others; great to see everyone out, even though it was just a few of us there (we made it all fun though right ;))

Onto the dance floor we went for The Judge once he arrived around 2am. He started with some pretty good hard tracks. Banging them out and dancing it up we all had a great time. I remember saying to myself; "I really hope he brings everyone down for a bit, he's playing uber hard." Unfortunately he didn't. He dropped in his new collaboration with Dumonde "Dumonde vs. Judge Jules - What's in Your Head" as his 5th song; I would have left that near the end, but he is Judge Jules; I'll let him pick his own tracks :P

I don't know what happened but I was f'n done by about 4am. Worst headache in the world and was dying. I've never felt like that at a club; to all who saw me at that point I appologize; I must have looked like I was on something when really I was just pounding water all night like it was going out of style.

We left after a while of listening to Dennis rock the house for a bit (man you seriously are a machine up there in the booth; honour to be up there with you ;)). I was so whopped and feeling like ass that Kandaio drove home. Terrible; I know.

For all who went though; it was a good time. I give the club a 10/10...just incredible, except the DJ booth placement could seriously use some work. The crowd...I'd say 7/10; 7 because everyone who was there was INTO the music but it was very young. They were there to have a good time and there was some good space to dance...nice to breath at a club for once ;)) Walter and Dennis rocked the house; IMO they stole the show and I'd say 8-9/10 for sure. The Judge; well he didn't really do it for me to be honest. I expected more from this legend of music but I still loved his selections so I would say 5-6/10.

Great seeing all the TA's out though; you always make the party that more special. Can't wait for the next one :D

Edit - who was the cutie with the England shirt on? You were awsome to party with but you're name slipped my memory. See you soon!

Remember to check out all the pics from the night HERE or at my website which is chrisallen.kandaio.com.

That was a great party! I got there earli and stayed to the very last minute just after 6....i wish that Dennis had spun longer because as mentioned b4 he realli did steal the show!

There were some ty parts to the night but all in all i had a great time and so did my friends and that is all that realli matters when it comes to this!Remember the good times not the bad people!!!!

Good seeing some other TA's out at Republik, i only met a few but still enuf respect for coming out to support the only tru trance party that night...all the other parties were more housy than trance, so i am happy to see that there are actually people on the board that listen to trance and enjoy good music over the other parts of partying.

Word up to the TA's i met: Vertigo, DJ AMPZ, Dennis Hahn who were in attendance!!

my night stared out pretty decent. for the most part i really like the look of republik and its clear that there is loads of potential. i saw lots of familiar faces and met some new ta's as well. i was having a pretty enjoyable time until jules came on. if i had to describe jules' set in one word..dissapointing....if i could use to words...terrible and dissapointing. i found it to be just a lot of bad bad hard trance. a track here or there was ok, but that just isn't enough for a major overseas headliner to impress me.

overall im still glad i came out. the quality of people i spent my evening with certainly made up for the lack of quality in the music supplied by judge jules.

I pretty much have the same review as Andrew....really nice club and the music was really good (Walter Rosati & OS2) until Judge Jules came on....he played a lot of good songs, but I wasn't feelig the remixes of them at all....the trance was a little to hard for my liking.

Dennis....I am SOOOOOOOOOOO SORRY I didn't stay for your set, but I just couldn't stay and listen to the music any longer....I am sure you were awesome as always and tore the place up :)

It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces, and nice to meet a few new ppl as well. I will have my pictures up from the night later on.

Too many old and weak tracks from jules. Just shows that headliners arent always the best. People should respect locals more than they do IMO.

Fully agreed. Walter and Dennis played ing monstrous tunes.
...
Anyway, agreeing with Jayx1, Walter Rosati and Dennis Hahn were the true star of the night, opening and closing, respectively.
...
Also, many thanks to Dennis for putting me on his guestlist, even though it wasn't necessary - thanks to Walter and/or Ari, and/or Del :toocool: :toocool: :toocool:

I wasn't at Republik either (sorry Dennis) but I'm compelled to post in agreement with some of my brethren here...(just like my girl Nada)...Loved Dennis' energy from the day I heard him...all of my crew would have come to hear on Sunday had it not been for the timing...how much does it take to make this guy a resident in TO?! So generous also!

You'll get FULL support of locals from me, Jayx1!!! They are headliners IMO and if they were spinning at KH or Docks or frickin Waterloo I'd be there...I've yet to hear a full set of Ampz or Tygon...will do soon tho...

I was really sorry too, mate...but Karen represented Kingston WELL at DT...I remember asking her how it went and she was disappointed unfortunately...of course that wouldn't have meant anything to me because I would've been there to see Walter and Hahn (sucks how they had to split you like that).
