| When is it ilegal if you download a tune. OKay, if you download a full quality tune, I understand it's really hot. But if you download a set rip or a full set just to ID that tune or you want to hear it again before it's finally released and you can buy it??? I really like to know this... |

| i would imagine that a set rip is still illegal |

| Grrrrr |
Could someone check something for me
Look at the insert from a CD single and read the small print, terms and conditions type thing. Does it say: "No unauthorised copying, hiring, lending blah blah public performance blah blah"
If it does, then surely any DJ playing that single at an event is breaking the law? And therefore set rips are also illegal |

It depends. If the venue where the DJ is performing has paid fees to such blanket organizations as BMI or ASCAP then it should be ok. Radio stations also have to pay similar fees. |

Owning any copyright material that you havent paid for is techincally illegal.
Livesets are just very difficult for them to monitor and enforce, as such is deemed more a grey area than anything else. |

no your missing the point. you cant drag your hifi /dj equip. out into the road and start playing music to groups of people becasue you dont have a license to do so.
pubs, bars, clubs do have a licence so DJing at them isnt illeagal! :) |

Downloading isn't illegal. By downloading music you are not infringing any copyright, the uploader is. But once you can verify the track, you are then knowingly in breach of copyright law.

The copyright exists the moment the sound (sample) is created regardless of whether the full track has received a release of any kind. |

| downloading music in the UK is illegal last time i checked. People are being incriminated for it and paying fines accordign to the papers, which makes it illegal in my eyes..?! |

| Glad we cleared that up, I rather buy it then download it. Downloaded music and/or software are mostly infected or it's the wrong file. I prefer buying although it costs money:D Legal internet downloads, such as ATS Digtal, are great I think. You dont have to go out or wait for your order to get your tunes, great way to buy tunes.... |
