How many listens does it take to determine the quality of a track? (pg. 2)

the really good stuff you can listen to infinite number of times and always discover something new :)

Depends on song, there are tunes catchy at first time, others I'll like after more times listening to and others I ll not like neither listening 1000 times...
But is rare I dislike so much a track, most times a techno, psy or boring prog... other genres I just gave up to try like it, like hardstyle or schranz...

Depends on the track. Some I love right away, then as I listen to them more and more they get boring. Others start out boring and get better and better everytime I listen to them.

2-3 seconds

Sometimes it hits you right away. When I first heard the radio rip of Urban Train, I knew it was special. On the other hand, it took me 10 years to realize how much I like The Bends.

But in general you should definitely give a track a few listens; at least once loud, at least once in headphones, before making a judgement. And don't be surprised if your opinion changes in a few days, months or years.

i find myself getting sick of a track pretty quickly if i'm enthused about it on a first listen

usually, my favourite tracks are the ones that take a while to grow on me
Belgian Bonzai
Some tracks hit you at first listen, others take 5 times to grow. Either sort can make it to my top 10. The former because of the sound and melody, the latter because of complexity and special effects.

fix your location! that is so rude
Psy-T
a. your location sucks
b. usually a few seconds to clean out the ones that have nothing to do with me
a minute sample is often enough to sort through the good stuff

^agreed, but some traxx need a few listens to get it.

Matthew Dekay vs The Proluctors - Bad is a good example for me. First couple times it seemed average, then all of a sudden it fuggin hit my like a ton of bricks. :)

And lets be honest this thread is really about your 'clever' location idea.
