You can use a a nuclear explosion apparently al-a-goldeneye.

Sheesh...

Hasn't anyone ever read or seen, "War of the Worlds"? :p

Hmm, are you sure about that? I mean the atmosphere isn't really ignitible, it just helps stuff burn...

There is a weapon that is basically the same as the one they use in Matrix that sends out some kind of electronic wave that makes microchips not work

No, that's EMP. It's a bomb that releases charged particles in the vicinity of the detonation which overload the circuits of electronic appliances.

Cool story but I dont think they can make anti-matter just yet!! (Unless Bonzai knows any different?!)

They can, but in miniscule amounts, there's currently no way of mass producing it.

In a way like creating an Artificial Solar Flare?

I'm pretty sure you can't create an artificial solar flare with our level of technology..
Dervish
Think it's a referance (solar flare) to a similar effect that occurs when nukes are detonated.
Jackson
I dont know if there is such an Artificial solar flare. I was saying if something manmade would have the same affects as a solar flare.

As in disabling electronics? That would be EMP.

Yes I would agree that EMP is the future for advanced warfare.

Regarding nuclear weapons against aliens, scientists still use computer simulation for larger Nukes.

The last time France conducted nuclear tests in the pacific, they wanted the real results to tally with the simulation. Now since it had been tallied, God knows how advanced are they. :o

emp

hmmmm. the worse thing they could do is turn it into a one that kills the heart ( if they ever do it) why kill the machines when u can kill people using the pulse.

instant heart attack. hybrid between a shockwave of a nuke and emp.

but attacks the heart.

A mate of mine was telling me about this Polish (i think) guy who worked at his uni and helped him with his project.

He said he worked on some kind of noise weapon for the soviets. And it worked... :nervous:

I feel as if few people know what the tests were for. They were experiments of geophysical nature to learn more about the internal structure of Earth.

Maybe he means a fuel air explosive which spreads an explosive aerosol which is subsequentely ignited after it disperses?

Well, I think it's already fairly well developed today ...

They were prototyped during the first gulf war, and I think it was in mainstream deployment for the second Iraq war.

They needed a total of 5 nuclear explosions to test the internal structure of the Earth?

http://edition.cnn.com/WORLD/9512/france_nuclear/

Furthermore, the French ministry of defense themselves stated that the testing was for military purposes:

quote:

PARIS (CNN) -- Ignoring widespread protest, the French Defense Ministry staged its third underground nuclear test Friday in the South Pacific.

The underground explosion was detonated at Mururoa Atoll in French Polynesia, where earlier nuclear tests provoked worldwide condemnation. The blast was equivalent to an explosion of 60,000 tons of TNT. Activists around the world have protested the resumption of nuclear testing by France.

France said the blast was aimed at "guaranteeing the safety and reliability of weapons in the future." The French government has pledged to sign a test ban treaty once the latest round of tests is over.

In all liklihood, the tests were probably designed to certify a new warhead for a submarine launched ballistic missile:
