lol. The US wants to put a US flag on Mars. Maybe later Mars can be called the "USM". Why does the US think it's a competition? America wins teh space :toothless. What a great global community we have!! The rest of the insignificant world means nothing on a universal scale. Hell, the universe should be called the "USU". the rest of the world, the different cultures, humanity; the US puts a US flag on Mars - what a en UP-YOUR-OWN-ARSE thing to do!
Or here's an interesting idea: maybe the world can work together for a change to achieve this massive step togther. Let's hold hands everyone. If we work together we could build a space ship together. Germany can supply garbage cans for the 'Cockpit', Australia can supply manure for the 'rocket fuel', Indonesia can supply wood for the 'body of the ship' & Africa can make a 'World flag' out of old rags that we can stick on Mars when we get there. This will bring us all together as one united achievement that this little planet called Earth can be proud of!! |

yea well teh world did work together on the first mars probe, unfortunately I think it was the brits or aussies that left their numbers in metric format which meant the probe went crashing into the mars surface too fast. So we don't your sorry asses ing our money up.
besides, many others countries produce the parts for the ships and equipment, plus there are many different varieties o people employed by nasa, so its a very diverse effort.
usa number one yay! |

shyerrr, i was being sarcastic. I do know that parts of the Nasa organisation are very diverse, which is great! My point is that US propaganda is an issue; It stops being a global effort when the US takes all the glory. It is like; all the diverse people that helped make it happen are insignificant & just riding piggy back on the US machine. Putting a US flag on Mars is like saying " the rest of the World". That attitude is . Why not put a flag of all the nations on Mars:- Earth as one! Why not pack a ship full of the flags of every nation & send it to Mars, we dont need to put people on the ship, Flags are more important. When all the flags reach Mars everyone will be happy & know that a peice of coloured cloth represents them on a red rock 100 million kilometers away.
Metric all the way baby! :p |

lol, exactly. It's the 'us & them' syndrome unfortunately. War for territory will continue into the future & as long as the world remains split into nations, a wall will remain between humanity that keeps us from being a unified world.
Just imagine this though: A ship lands on Mars & a 'World flag' is placed on the surface. Just think about how the whole world can feel acheivement together, not just ONE nation striving for a name to fame; It could be a sense of achievement the world can experience. Just an idea anyways. |

Lies, metric is the proper number format. The US is the only place where they use "funny" numbers.
Anyway, that should of been taken care of at project specification stage , implementation probeblems would stem from that. |

To Mars!
When we get to mars
There will be no wars
No more driving cars
When we get to mars
To mars! To mars!
Our engines full ablast
Now earth is in the past
The distance is still vast
When we get to mars!
It will be a hard journey
Why'd we bring an attourney?
They say his name is Ernie
To mars! There'll be no more SARS on mars on mars! |
