San Francisco/Los Angeles Trance Scene

I've been hearing that San Francisco and Los Angeles have the most vibrant trance scenes in North America. I'm very surprised by this.

Is there truth to this? SF has never been a trance mecca. Have times changed? I always thought SF was about progressive house, funky house, etc...never trance music.

LA, on the other hand, always appeared to have a bit more punch in way of trance music than SF, but never known as having a dynamic scene.

Times have really changed or someone is really telling fibs.

Which is it?

No bias here. Just want the lowdown on the trance scenes on the West Coast.

Take care everyone

Nahhhh, SF is mainly about house. Mainly SF House. Not even prog.

Trance has its HUGE nights here, but that's with the more well knonw DJs, not just anyone.

Same goes for prog.

Althouuughhh, I think SF can bring the best vibes of any city I've been to clubs in.

Theres usually a few good evenings of trance every weekend.

if tiesto and paul oakenfold played the same night carl cox and roger sanchez played, the tiesto and oakenfold would have twice as many people there(in san francisco)...but this would probaly be the same for any other city as well....it seems to me all the major parties and club nights are surounded by major trance dj's...

well LA seems to be more outgoing when theres a big name DJ, then theres places that are trendy to go to, and you can bring just about anoyone and it will go off as far as Trance goes. there seems to be more of a loyal following as far as house goes. allowing clubs to bring in local DJs more.

WHHHATTT???

LA people are narrow-minded twits brimming w/ unfounded arrogance

Actually SF sucks now as well

Please go to Europe for the TRUE parties

Actually that would be a little too much to ask considering only 14% of Americans actually have a passport

Trance Shaft is partially right. Events in the US don't hold a candle to Europe. Its a completely different culture. However, the scene in the US has definitely improved over the past 10 years. The gap is narrowing, and the future will be in the US, primarily because this is where all the money is.

I would agree with him if his entire TA existence wasn't "Trance sucks, your music sucks, that club sucks, that DJ sucks, the sound sucks, the dance scene sucks" etc.

Thank you Clovis. Someone finally said something against the ignorance of trance_shaft. And to trance_shaft, the SF scene has really improved especially in recent events with Armin, Markus, and Ferry.

PS. Here's a quarter trance_shaft, go buy a clue.
