Most autas are in melbourne or sydney, with a fair amount still in perth, adelaide, brisbane & other places, to be fair in 3 months you should aim to see the majority of those cities, plus i'd recommend up the coast from perth, and a lot around brisbane too for great views & near paradise
mentalbarter
swim with teh great white sharks
wrestle with crocodiles
collect poisonous spiders

its not that i dont like you

Melbourne: is probably the most cosmopolitan city. Best food in Aus IMO (especially on a limited budget). OK clubbing scene. Pretty chilled out people. BUT the weather sux during Winter bigtime! ... probably not nearly as bad as the UK, but still...

Sydney: is a pretty happening place, they've got the harbour bridge, the opera house, circular quay, teh gay/lesbian mardi gras, some decent clubs... but generally I'm not a fan of the Sydney lifestyle, its a bit too intense for my liking up there (even if their weather is better).

Perth: has hot weather pretty much all the time... only problem is apart from the beaches and the weather the place is a bit of a hole (sorry Perth dudes)... there's a lot of sightseeing that can be done though.

Adelaide: Ahhh the "City of churches". If you think that sounds boring... guess what you're absolutely right! The only things to do in this city is get drunk and go to church. It is the capital of the state of South Australia (Pretty much Australia's wine capital). SO stop by and visit some wineries if you absolutely must... otherwise avoid!

Brisbane: I haven't spent much time here (a couple of days while waiting for a flight)... And gotta say I wasn't particularly impressed. Slightly more rednecks than in other capital cities. Not a great deal to do... and their cabs are called "Yellow Cabs" but are in fact coloured orange... wtf mate!... Queensland in general has nicish beaches, but is saturated with tourists in some parts.

Tasmania: aaahh the "Apple Isle" ..., which because of its shape has become a euphemism for the female pubic area. They have good apples. If bushwalking is your thing this isn't a bad place to do it, but if ou thought the weather in Melbourne was bad then you're in for a surprise of the unpleasant variety.

Northern Territory: never been there, but they say there's a lot of good sigh seeing to be done.

Canberra: Capital of australia... keep the out unless you have some kind of fetish for government institutions/builings... or annoying circular roads that confuse the crap out of you.

I have a friend who's been to Sydney and it made a wonderful impression. All I got was a T-shirt.. 3 months? Good for you!

Make the best of it!

You've got to be ing kidding me, narcism!

Bring an umbrella for Sydney??? We are in the middle of the worst drought on record!!!

It has barely rained at all for the last couple of years and we have just entered the third (and most strict) stage of water restrictions

how much would one have to bring with him self to go to oz for round 4-5 months, not work and live like a lord & maybe travel to few places? any help?
UglyDave
cant promose rain, but i'll bring a big bucket of water of you's want??

dublin dude - i'm ptobably gonna bring about €2000, and i'm planning to work for a bit too.

I got a txt from my sister who's currently in sydney and she asked me to go fruit picking with her (work)

i've never been a fruit picker before, but it sounds like a kick ass occupation :)

fruit picking sounds neat! dont get sunburnt. i think the sun is stronger there...
astroboy
Yeah watch out for sunburn. People with pale skin like myself burn to a crisp in no time at all. Don't wanna spend your holiday nursing some bad-ass sunburn.
