Amazing how the Pirates have been helping the Mets' cause, winning 3 out of 4 against Marlins, and 2 out of 3 against Braves
Nationals swept Marlins this weekend to take the lead. Even more amazing that the Marlins have plummeted to last place
Mets would tie with the Nats if they win both games today, that's not looking too good so far, as Ishii just gave up 4 runs in the 6th inning to give the Giants a 5-1 lead. |

Glad the Nats swept the Marlins. Of all 5 teams in the NL East, they are the most likely to fall back into last. |

Doug Mientkiewicz is "underachieving." Carlos Beltran is not on pace for an average year. On pace for 20 HRs/70 RBI. His average is 27/103. So he is "underachieving." Cliff is just doing what he's capable of when healthy. His last fully healthy year: .288/.388/.533 for a .921 OPS. The year before that: .317/.390/.578 for a .968 OPS. So this isn't a career year. Pedro's August and September ERAs in 02/03/04:
1.69 and 2.65 with 37 and 17 IP.
2.90 and 0.82 with 31 and 33 IP.
2.25 and 4.95 with 44 and 36 IP.
So... one bad September in '04 means he historically falters and gets hurt at the end of the year? Interesting.
And Looper has been fine. He's not Mariano Rivera, but he's not Danny Kolb (but by your reasoning... Kolb will get better, yet Looper won't?)
But whatever... you're right. The Mets will finish last and the Yankees will finish first. |
floyds past 2 seasons are 18 and in the 60's in rbi's, he has 12 homers now and is hittin 9 pts over career high so , thats maybe not a career year a all that you could expect from an injury prone 30 something year mlb player.Pedro was younger and better during those years I beleive one was a cy young year another, he only pitched 2 starts and he was on a powerhouse offensive teams throughout those years.. pedro has alo petched 80 innings at the 1/3 point of the season do you honestly think the 160lb will pitch 240? so he is either going to be shut down at some point or slow down. No looper wont he has a 3.53 career era, and hes only slightly above that a this time. kolb has a 7 era, theres no where to go but up and there still in 1st.
"We can't find a way to beat them at this point. You have to give them credit. They didn't beat my team. They beat me. They're that good right now. They're that hot. I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy."( |

| And I'm the one who has been accused of hating and saying nothing positive about the Yankees? |

Darn, Mets had rallies going in both 8th and 9th innings, but fall to Giants, 6-3
Too bad they couldn't come back, but they were able to keep the game interesting |

| Yep. I was really hoping for a Kaz 3-run triple. Or Cameron getting on and a Beltran homer. Oh well... Benson v. Schmidt. Schmidt's been pretty miserable this year. Which means he'll throw a one-hitter tonight. |

| Now the Mets need to win the nightcap to stay tied with Phillies for 3rd place. If they lose, they'll be in last place , .011 behind the Marlins. |

Mets split the doubleheader with a 12-1 win
2 bombs by Floyd, and a similarly big shot by Diaz!
Mets seem to almost always put on a very good show when they're on national TV :D
They're tied for 3rd with Phillies, 0.5 game behind Braves, 1 game behind new leader Nationals. Let's hope the Braves lose to the Angels tomorrow during the off-day, so that Mets can move up into a tie for 2nd. |
