Will the Mets take the top spot? (pg. 3)

Without playing a game, Mets move up to a tie for second, thanks to Braves losing to Angels, and Phillies winning streak being snapped by D-backs.
Hopefully Pedro (and the A's and Angels) can help them move up one more spot tomorrow!

Awesome. The Mets really need to go 8 out of 12 or better during this easy stretch before the Phils and Yanks. This is the time to gain as much ground as possible.

Beautiful complete game by Pedro, with 12 K's, including striking out the side to end the game

Mets 4 games over .500 for the first time in 3 years!
Too bad it looks like almost all the other teams in the NL East are also going to win tonight, so it doesn't seem any ground will be gained.

Pedro's stats are looking like College stats so far this year.

46 Hits in 88 IP. And an ABSURD 104/13 K/BB ratio.

OMG, there's actually hope for the Mets for this season, after the Sat game against the Angels
Definitely watch the highlights of this one!!!
That's gonna be one of the best games of the year for the Mets!

It included a home run stolen from an Angels player, an inside-the-park home run, 2 blown saves, and a walk-off home run!

Darn, Mets seemed to be on their way to winning the series against Angels with a 3-0 lead before Pedro lost his control and went into a meltdown in the 6th inning (seemingly like all the other Mets starters). First time all season that Pedro (and not the bullpen) gave up a lead.
Looper got a bad call on the leadoff hitter in the 9th inning, followed later by Wright's error.

Meanwhile the Nationals just keep winning and winning, and at this rate, they're running away with it.
Hopefully their streak will end, and they'll go into a funk like the Yanks did. :p

Also, Mets might get a new stadium in 2009, which would be used in the 2012 Olympics if NYC is awarded the Games.

"Bloomberg said the Mets will build the stadium, which will be privately funded, for the 2009 season."

"The stadium will be built independent of whether we're awarded the Olympics or not," Silver said. "Hopefully for the '09 season this can be done."

Braves join the Mets in the basement after losing to Rangers, 7-3
Hopefully the Angels can help more, in their game against Nationals - leading 2-0 in 3rd inning right now.
The Mets seem to make the most progress in the standings on their off days :p

And when they face aces. The Mets can't beat the Backe's of the world. But bring on Roger, and we'll win!
