Nice track selection, you've got a really old skool sound going here, imo. I'm really enjoying the deep valleys. Techincally speaking your recording is nice and loud.
I can't stand quiet recordings! Drives me bonkers when you've got to turn it way up just to hear the bass. Which then causes me no end of hearing damage from from clipping highs and mids. And since I'm such a pothead I always forget to turn it back down so when the next song plays it scares the living sh1te out of everyone.
Anyway, there are some really sweet tracks I've mostly never heard before. Quality mixing too.

time well spent on this mix. probably my favorite of metatron's to date (i seem to always say that, haha). the vocal layering is perfect. the vocals go so well with that song, and the lyrics are awesome aswell. i really liked that way out west song, of course :P and also the superpitcher remix of that m83 song puts me in a "trance-like state" haha. oh and nice on the encore, not the best song, but for an encore it works very well. i'm so tempted to burn this on a few cds and just start passing it out at clubs, we'll see. as always, keep it up. i love it. |
awesome chris, thanks :D
The first comment on the vocal layering! Yeah, I really like the lyrics and even though it's not singing they still have a great emotion to them. Which I think accents Blue Tubes very well :D.
And yeah the encore song has somewhat of an emo vibe, but is still very danceable. I know indy rock and emo get bashed a lot here but I like it (well a lot of it anyways).
As for passing it out at clubs!?!?! Wow that really says something about this mix. DO IT! :toothless
J/K, Glad you liked it chris and am looking forward to your site launch. :) |

:D thanks Desty. Old school vibe? Well almost all the tracks have been release in the last couple months, but I think I know what you mean. I tend to use songs that focus on bare melodies and accoustics, I try to stay away from those anthem tracks or the seemingly trendy tunes. (i.e. Adiago, Serenity, Someday and most Whiteroom stuff). I know a lot of people like these tunes, as I do (well most of them :p ), but I only use tracks that I can 'relate' to if you know what I mean. Tracks that I feel can express what I want to express. I dunno.
Haha, I'm the same way about the levels, they are very important to me. Just like mixing if the levels are off it can throw the listener off. I've learned the best thing a DJ can do is not let the listener hear what he's doing. If a listener doesn't even know when one track is ending and the other is coming in, then that is the best result to shoot for. Anyway thanks for the feed back and keep listening. :) |

Very nice Mix Metraton
I love the inclusioon of mogwai vocals in the first track with hydroyd's blue tubes, it gives you a feeling to be spaced out:crazy: ,Wich i really like to be in that state jajaja.
Very nice mixing techniques, Transitions just keep flowing , and they dotn feel repetiive, seems mor eoriginal mixing.
I like purple haze to bump it up, then the max graham tune, wich starts very nice, and then gets high pitched at some part of the osng, , im not sur eif you did this by yourself or if the song its like thast, but i'm just sure it feels great, also love the Emotional Second Day tune, wich fits very nice int hat way mixed.
Weel See ya mate,
Keep Mixing--->:tongue3 |

lol, thanks man! glad I could make you feel jajaja spaced out
I'm not really sure what you mean when the Max Graham tune gets high pitched, but I do use a high pass filter on some of it. :)
Thanks for listening Pinokio :)

first let me say the mix was sublime. i truly enjoyed the feel from stem to stern... i especially love 'automatic weapon.'
i did hear the level differences you mentioned... but the differences were verey minute. and, i find, that at times, changing the volume, just a tad, can really add to what you are trying to convey with your mix.
and besides, it was a live mix, not something that you spent time tinkering with in a post production studio. even the so called greats make similar technical errors.
all in all... the mix was fantastic: tracks, energy... it was just what i needed yesterday to brighten a rainy south florida afternoon. thanks again |

Awesome, thanks guys.
d-kristopherre: thanks man, appreciate you checkin out my mix. :D I'm really glad I could cheer you up a bit :). Sorry to hear about your mixing blues. It's too bad your in a rut atm, but don't worry, these things are always temporary. I've never played in front of a huge crowd before, but I can say when I'm feeling unmotivated about mixing or it just seems lackluster I just take a break. A few days is always enough for me to become inspired again. I never force myself to mix, I always try to do it when I'm feelin it. Anyway you are a great dj and things will definitely work out for you, you just have to be resilient I guess. I'm lookin forward to your next house mix!
djx2: thank you! it's an honor to get a compliment from an esteemed dj such as your self. thanks for listening and I also look forward to your next.;)
again, thanks to everyone for the feedback, i luv it! :D |
