you dont "save" cpu that way if you can have all the vsts in one project then why export? most of the times the fx dont eat half as much as the actual instruments anyway |
You missunderstood what I was saying.
I have a separate project for the midi programing and the fx and all that, and one for the final arranging of the track, where I ONLY handle the wave loops I had bounced from the midi project.
That way I save CPU for sure, alot of people do this. |

i do the same only i have 2 or more projects for midi stuff. but i still dont get it... if you do every midi thing you need (vsts & fx) in one projet then why export the loops. just mix it there |

There's a little trick, I always use.
Just reduce the voices used by the synthesizer. Internally the program has to compute much lesser operations.
Reducing voices in Vanguard to 2-4 instead of 16 makes me able to use 2 Vanguards in time on a P400 MHz CPU!!
I believe, if you try this at other polyphonic-supporting VSTIs, it should work as well.
Also in Reason voices can and should be reduced if not needed, to save cpu power.

while using tons of VSTs over the years on my "L337A55" computer iv reached to a conclusion...
- use WAV ... Why? i was discussing about VSTs and their sound quality while working LIVE or Exporting with few pro soundmans they all told me that while working with VSTs as a live tool and not exporting wav can it up ... since it has a touch with few other parts in the song which after the exporting some of the parts having a low FREQUENCY , the point while exporting to WAV is to keep the song's Freqs steady...so for example if ull convert from a VST to WAV the less freqs will lost...if u think im talking crap well no iv tested few times and discussed about it too much , VIVA LA WAV.
 |

What I do to make my pc faster?
Run at the least 2 spyware programs and my antivirus program. A lot of spyware takes up a lot of RAM, and trojans take up even more! |

nothing here... the same with the standard sb live drivers..
weird.. your pc lags with just 2 z3ta's? i guess you have low latency settings (thats when you need a better soundcard). |

Renoise baby! www.renoise.com
It's something totally different from cubase though, so switching might not be an option. |

Try setting up your PC as a standard computer instead of an ACPI multiprocessor computer. Its under computer in Device manager. You will have to re-install most of your hardwares drivers afterwards, but it helped me a bit. Basically ACPI puts all your IRQs in one big heap and this can sometimes cause cubase to lag a bit.
Check the settings in your BIOS too. Some motherboards can be flakey, especially if your overclocking them, it can around the data transfer to your soundcard. try setting everything to default settings.
Turn Hyperthreading off!! Its , it will divide your ram in half and only give you access to half of it most of the time. Hyperthreading is ed. Its a scam, turn it off. If you want dual, go buy a dual system.
Turn off any anti virus software
Turn down any 3d acceleration a couple of notches under troubleshooting in display properties.
Assign a separate IRQ for your soundcard if you can. I use XP and it doesnt let me do it unfortunately, but I think 2000 and 98 will let you.
And lastly, ditch ing cubase. Its crap and I hate it. I'm switching to Live after I've finished my current project. God damn, archaic, overly complex piece of that it is. |

you can!!
you just must make it "standard pc" and then you must install windows again..
when your pc is standard pc you loose ability to automatic power off.. so you muts press the power button the end of cpu's shutdown |
