But those are direct UV rays on your skin and pose a high risk for it...So you gotta be careful of all those tanning salons, unless it's some spray tan thing. |
I dont think VERTiGO is concerned about UV rays. Ya they are direct in a tanning bed but you are only in there for 5 mins, instead of hours in the real sun. |

I'm at risk for skin cancer, so I avoid tanning. :nervous: :nervous:
It's one thing to be out on a sunny day, but quite another thing to PURPOSELY expose oneself to UV rays.
Anyway, tanning makes skin look NASTY close up. :nervous: :nervous: |

Teh bottom line is - sun leaves marks and spots on your skin, makes you look older and gives you wrinkles, and is the cause of one of the worst cancers...so...just be careful that's all :)
There's a calendar on my wall with Marissa Miller on it (SI Swimsuit Issue) - she's a sun type girl and on the calendar she looks flawless...then British GQ did artistic black and white photography with her, and her whole body is covered with black sun spots...photoshop does wonders :nervous: :nervous: |

Yea, I thought pasty was in?? :conf:
The irony being that I'll probably try and tan this year; I've been putting it off for years.
(I used to get coffee bean brown when I was younger).
I'll take it slow and safe of course, not too much in one sitting; that's just asking for trouble.
Sunblock 3000 yea know!
Wassaga here I come! :toothless |

Black sun spots are from excessive tanning. Models are tanned all year round, and are very tanned. Tanning once a week for only the summer months isn't going to to a great deal of harm if you wear sunscreen and dont get too dark. |

That's true...but acutally models aren't tan all year round...only the SI ones are and most of them aren't even real tanned :)...most models are pasty white unless they are from Brazil where it's just their natural skin color :) |

| Do not tan at all. |

| No amount of sunscreen (even nasty-smelling SPF 1000) ever stops me from burning. Even frequent re-applications. Unfortunately, I must avoid the sun. |

| Try tanning outside in the early morning/late evening when the sun is close to the horizon, its really gentle on your skin then. |
