EDIT: this thread is really old and has been hijacked from its' original discussion. Please go review another artist's song :)

I re-did my song "free reign" and it has been picked up by a record company (deepsink) after submiting it in a contest. I was trying to re-create that classic rave sound with elements of trance in it.
You can listen to it at one of these two places:

any feedback is welcome :)

oh, and I'm giving away 2 free copies of the trance compilation it will appear on. The best way to stay updated on this is to visit my site and sign up for the e-mail newsletter:

I really appreciate the support that some of you have given me :)

I am going to check it out and it better be damn good; just because a record label picks it up does not mean it is worth it. Hell, must record labels pick up the crap that keeps giving trance a bad name and image. :tongue2

Just what I expected. Sorry, brother, but my opinion is that it sounds like ordinary cheese. There is nothing spectacular about the track. As a matter of fact, I had to listen to it against my will because the instruments used are extremely annoying. The structure is all over the place and it does not have any drive to it. Anyway, congratulations on the label deal. :)

Well produced and mixed, but I really lost interest after 1:50. Although there are interesting elements present, the whole doesn't seem to tell a story.

Not in favor of the intro synths at all, kick is weak and it's repetive (at least the sample is, I dunno about the rest).
And it's empty! fill up the freq's man :)
I'm sorry, but I didn't like this much as it sounds rather lifeless to me. congrats though :)

i agree with most of the comments here, got bored after 1:30, sorry to offend you but this kind of trance sums up the sterotypes and is the reason people get mixed up between techno and trance. but congratulations on getting signed anyway.

Hm I'm wondering what arguments this company has on signing this. And the Osmotic Wave "all christian" policy gives me the creeps. And I don't like the track either. Poor mixing and the buildup is even worse.

I'd suggest just posting the name of the track as thread title in stead of "accepted by record company".

Depens on which record company. I once found a record company a friend sead I would easily get into. Went to their site and found out they had accepted about 10.000 producers, half of wich were total crap.

I'd rather have to try a bit harder for a label at Black Hole or Byte records than to sign for these guys. My advice would be to produce, produce, produce, produce, produce, produce, produce.... I once spent 30 hours a week producing for about 6 months and learnt so much!

Anyway, keep going as you are, musicaly it's not all that bad at all.

I have to say that this sound is something different that ***I*** normally listen to and/or produce (if that matters),

now what intrigued me, made me curious about the track is that you stated "A lot of people have said that it sounds like nothing they've ever heard before."

Now right after I read that I was anticipating something amazing, killer buildup, great unique lead, great mixing, etc, imo, not quite, not yet.

Congrats on getting signed though,

Just keep on producing and practicing as much as you can to get to that "nothing they've heard before" sound.

Overall im not impressed with this track compared to the hype it had behind it.

Maybe the label and you plan to completely overhaul the track, rework it, etc to make it a killer tune ?

HOW ING BULL

I didn't check the tune , but just because someone said hear my track because it got signed it gets 10 replies in 1 day!!

While there are people who review allot and don't even get 5 replies in totall.

Piece of crap this forum has become.
