Which, contrary to popular belief, is NOT tv network material in Japan. And if it isn't tv network material in Japan, it's not gonna be tv network material anywhere else either.
Otherwise, what Astroboy said. |

| What's not so great about anime? As far as the animation style goes, I think it's pretty ty. All the characters and emotions are templated and mediocre at best. The animaiton itself is really cheezy, and doesn't take much talent. I'm speaking on the behalf of many animation students that are of the same opinion. However, anime does have its good points. It's more 'serious', generally has very epic and deep storylines, focusing on great character development. Plus the storylines themselves usually explore some very interesting topics of humanity, from religion, to scientology, to sexuality. Nevermind the hentai, that's just porn. Amuzing and funny porn, but porn nonetheless. |

I like it because (like others said): there is a deep storyline. and i like the drawing and movements of those characters in anime. You can draw more with the fantasy, then you can actually capture with a camera. and you don't have to look at it, like it's made in hollywood. it's the same with music, different intensions for different people, with different taste.+ I respect those guys for the big amount of details they put into this movie genre
For me it's a YES to anime  |

| I enjoy all japanese culture and anime is no exception. i feel one thing that keeps anime (as well as japanese arts) going is the amount of detail put through the most minute of visual and spiritual appeal. It seems as if every anime isn't made for the money or the name, but the affect it will have on the people to see it. A lot of the cyberpunk stories have ideas on the clash of computers on society. One big one is friendship and its important on our everyday lives. its more than just a money maker, but a society changer |

You have relied on personal character attacks which is the lowest form of arguing and is frankley not worth mine our yours time. |
Just because a lot of people do it...

its like anything. The more you understand it, the better youll like it. I ing love old school kung fu flicks like "Invincible Pole Fighter : 8 diagrams of death!"
I sat down with my bro and we got some beer and food and just made a marathon of watching like 15. By the end we had our favorites. if you dont follow a series in a timely fashion you wont like it. Its why people do marathons of 24 instead of watching it every week.
but yeah, you have to understand nuance, which is something most americans cant. Unless your a FILM )NOT MOVIE( and aesthetics buff, you wont get any more out of anime than you do out of a avant garde film.
--edit-- actually you can enjoy it if you can still enjoy a sense of awe and wonder. I love the fantasy genre in books, because they are able to build amazing structures in your head. The point of anime is to do that which couldnt otherwise be done visually. If they CGd it it becomes a CG something or other. After watching anime for a bit, to an extent it becomes more real due to the seamless nature of the medium. |
