For sure...but Hawtin is also using ableton now.

Still..that baisically just means his mixes sound even better...just like Sasha, although Hawtin does crazier stuff with it.

sorry to say, even though Richie is one of my fav. DJs ever, he is not that great at mixing. beats slip now and then. sure, it happens to most, but that's what sets Sasha's godlike mixing apart. even though Hawtin does use Ableton, as does Sasha, they still do mix, contrary to popular belief. in Richie's case, he sometimes can go for an hour or two without incorporating more than some minutes of automated Ableton goodness.

plus, i don't agree with those that feel the need to degrade Sasha's technical ability because he has chosen to embrace a new technology. the man can mix, better than most on the planet, and has proved it time and again. it's like when Zabiela uses a tranform effect to scratch so he can have a hand free for other things rather than having to crossfade. sure, crossfade cutting is the original way, and takes more skill, but he can do that too, and has proven it, so if he wants to use a transformer just so he can even add more to the overal effect, by all means.

Jeff Mills is not that good of a mixer either. sure, he is amazingly fast, but not really that clean. and the whole record a minute deal, while on one side does take skill, is a bit gimmicky. think about it, it takes a lot less skill, when spinning at 140BPM+ to have 3 records running for just one minute, and then going to another leaving only 2 on, tahn it would to have 3 records running at once for a couple minutes before going to another. this was pointed out by my only friend that plays full on 3 deck techno non-stop whilst watching a video of Mills spinning.

great techno DJs? Adam Beyer is very very good. i've yet to hear Marco Carola ever slip up. Cox is great behind he decks. Frank Lorber is a ing razor mixing.

other than Sasha, Digweed is quite surgical. Zabiela is very smooth as well. Erick Morillo used to be an excellent mixer, but as of late has gone qite downhill.

Cattaneo is quite good. deep house jock Jask is great. Kevin Yost is very smooth also.
DOOMBOT
From the dj's I have seen thus far...

Sasha and PvD. Will be seeing Corsten for the first time tonight so maybe I will be able to add him to the list! :D

John '00' Flemming has a column in IDJ doesn't he?

I in no way want to degrade Sasha for using Ableton...I think he has earned his right to use it, and it has simply allowed hgim to take his mixing to the next level.
