I just can't decide whether to go with PA monitors or studio monitors for mixing at home... i have done research and have been contemplating.... and contemplating.... arggg.... i do have enough space to distance the PA monitors from me... about as far as they do at a night club... but i want to be able to practice at lower volumes as well... i know studio monitors are clear but i want a setup that would best train me for playing out at a club... at least make it more representative to playing out at a club

| How loud you play has nothing to do with the real life experience of spinning at a club. Also, when you spin at a semi-decent club, they usually have monitors in the booth so I dont see why you would want PA speakers. Just get regular studio monitors, they go loud, they are crisp and it will help you to beatmatch much more precisely. |

well i just like loud full sound... i somehow am doubting that studio monitors have pounding bass which i just love...:D perhaps i should get a sub
how does this look
2 x passive studio monitors
12 inch passive sub
and an amp |

| How about you just get powered/amplified monitors. |

| that is a possibility... i don't plan on being portable so is there any other reason to go active? |

| Active speakers vs. Passive w/ amp is purely preference. |

| so lets i go with active monitors and an active sub... how would i distribute the signal to both sources from my mixer? would i just use a cable splitter or would an amp be required to distribute the sound signal properly? |

You want good bass out of monitors, then get Event ASP8

High-Powered Performance
The biamplified Studio Precision 8 sports our most powerful amplifier ever: 280 watts per speaker (200 watts LF driver / 80 watts HF driver)-so you'll always have plenty of headroom for even the most demanding applications. The amplifier circuitry utilizes low-noise semi-conductors and audio-grade film capacitors, giving the system enhanced dynamic range as well as exceptionally low noise and low distortion characteristics. We even used toroidal transformers for greatly reduced mechanical and electrical noise.
with these, you will not need a subwoofer at all. :D :D :D
Cheers... |
