Well, it's roughly one year since I learned what the name of this track was (previously thought it was something by faithless or scooter :D) So I decided to post a little topic about it!

So, everybody likes this one, right? It rules, simply put. :)
Project 7
The tune that got me into trance, featured on best hits of 96 or something with born slippy and i was hooked

NO!

I disagree with Ishkur on many things, but damn, he got this bang on: :D

If there is anyone who is responsible for the complete and thorough pussification of Trance, making it offensively lame to the point where not only newbie ravers but also their soccer moms could enjoy it, it's Robert Miles. "Children" has the exclusive accolade as being the #1 rave recruitment song of all time. It's also probably responsible for the embarrassing onslought of banal, melody-driven trance that dominated the last half of the 90s. Hell, I remember Anne Savage playing this ing song at my very first rave. This isn't trance; this is like that crappy background music on the TV listings channel that tells you what's playing on other channels.

That song also got me into trance. One of the best productions of the decade. Ishkur doesn't know wtf he's talking about.

I used to like Miles' original version alot but over the years i've got bored to it. Nowadays pretty much the one and only version of the track for me is Tilt's remake from 1998. All'n'all an amazing piece of track which has been remade, remixed and raped way too many times.
Viber
one of the first trance tracks i liked but ATB got me into trance:)

+1!

So it was really popular, I don't see what makes it so much better than other tracks like it at the time, or what new and interesting ideas it contained. For example, "Piano In Trance" by Cyclone Tracy could have easily been as famous and I don't see why it's not as good. But they never got it signed to any major labels.

I think it's . I do enjoy 14 Street's 'butchering' of it though, Children Trippin.. :toothless

i think its a case of right place, right time.
i guess it was trageted to mainstream audiences.

what makes it unique?
erm, i could be wrong but maybe its the short structure of it?
the verse/chorus/verse/chorus?

the first dance track 'everybody' could enjoy?

In terms of getting people into EDM I'd rather someone told me Robert Miles - Children did as opposed to DJ Sammy, Ultrabeat,

I can see why people think it is cheesy and crappy but it is better than what gets people into the music now
